Review: Kale Coconut Smoothie - 8 oz

Genius Juice’s Kale variety is one of the flavors that not only got a packaging update, but it also received a reformulation. In its first version, we found it a little challenging to enjoy this product. But this time around, the product is spot on. The ingredient list looks the same, including coconut water, coconut meat, banana, kale, chia seeds, mesquite, maca, chlorella and spirulina, but the product is much more balanced that we remember. Otherwise, the biggest changes are in the thickness (it’s much more manageable this go around) and how the coconut flavor really stands out. The latter part keeps the product’s flavor in line with the rest of the flavors, which is definitely a plus. Still, you can taste some of the other flavors, most notably the kale and banana, so the product does manage to have its own identity as well. All in all, we’re really impressed with the change to the formulation that the company has made. The product is available in both an 8 and 16 ounce size bottle, both of which are in a slightly taller bottle than they previously were. Genius Juice also updated its label, which now looks a bit more polished and also promotes the product’s USDA Organic and Non-GMO certifications. Overall, the Kale flavor of Genius Juice is a much improved product that is now amongst our favorites of the brand.
