Review: Ginger Oasis Herbal Tea

With an unsweetened formulation that’s also caffeine-free and zero-calorie, Ginger Oasis Herbal Tea has solid flavor in a very clean formulation. This USDA Organic and Fair Trade certified product is made with rooibos, ginger, lemongrass, and organic and natural flavorings. The rooibos and the lemongrass provide the majority of the product’s flavor, while the ginger adds a slight spice to the finish. We like the fact that it’s light in body, but sharp, at least at times, in flavor. It’s one of those products that really would not be helped by the addition of sweetener, so we’re glad that the company left it out. Visually, this product is one of Honest’s glass-packaged offerings, which means that it comes in a 16 oz. stock bottle. Their label has evolved recently, but Honest has kept its trademark “T” logo, and it maintains a familiar look. Otherwise, the design is something that we’d describe as conceptual rather than specific to the flavor. It’s nice looking, although it certainly requires the consumer to read the flavor name to figure out which variety is which. Our only other comment is that if Honest feels as though “Brewed with Real Ginger” is a callout worthy of being on the label, making it a bit easier to find and read would be helpful. Overall, a very well-executed product that proves that you don’t need sweeteners to make a great tasting beverage.
