Lumi Juice: Hot Shot

Made with beet, lime, and a hefty dose of jalapeno, naming this 2 oz. product "Hot Shot" is very apropos. The blood red-colored liquid is, much like Lumi's other shots, very intense. In this case, you can actually taste each of the three ingredients. However, the flavor of the jalapeno is far and away the strongest of the bunch (as would be expected) although the sweetness of the beets and citrus flavor of the beets do complement it nicely. It’s hard to decide whether to sip or shoot this product, but either way we think it’s really enjoyable. Nutritionally, the product is high in folate, magnesium, and potassium and has 20 calories and 3g of sugar. Shifting to the packaging and branding, the company has done a great job with its package, a 2 oz. container. We generally aren’t fans of using labels that hide the liquid, but it feels appropriate in this case. Plus, we think that the red color that Lumi uses as a backdrop looks better (well, less intimidating) than the actual color of the liquid. Otherwise, Lumi has done a nice job making something that’s easy to read and eye-catching, despite being small. All in all, we really enjoyed this product, and it was definitely our favorite of the Lumi shots.
