Purity Organic Teas: Mate with Grapefruit & Ginger

This product, which is the lone yerba mate flavor in the Purity Organic line, is a very pleasant tasting and low-sugar offering. The grapefruit juice is very much the star of the show and the first thing that hits your tongue. After that, you get notes of yerba mate and ginger, while added agave provides only a slight amount of sweetness. Fortunately, a light amount of sweetness is all this stuff needs and it helps the product achieve its low calorie and sugar content (35 calories per bottle and 5g of sugars). While this is being marketed as a tea product, it would actually make a pretty interesting alternative to a lemonade drink. That’s really how we’d summarize the flavor of what’s inside the bottle. On the outside, this product looks much more like one of their juice products than it does a tea drink. That’s not necessarily a bad thing -- Purity Organic certainly has plenty of brand equity in that category. More importantly though, it definitely appeals to the senses to the point where it whets the appetite. Overall, we really like what the company has created as it’s loaded with flavor but not with calories or sugar.
