The Organic Trade Association (OTA) recently reported sales of organic products in traditional supermarkets and by mass merchants has climbed by more than 12 percent a year since 2001, reaching $4.3 billion during the 52 weeks ending Dec. 3, 2005 according to AC Nielsen. (Figures do not include sales at Whole Foods Market.) What’s more the OTA projects organic coffee sales to grow an average of 20 percent annually through 2008.
