January 29, 2009 – Tampa, FL – New Orleans Saints running back and 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush will be the first NFL player – and, in fact, the first player from any of the “big four” North American team sports – to be supported by energy drink leader Red Bull. It’s an exciting new page in the company’s playbook. Red Bull has long been a loyal supporter of top-tier, professional athletes in national and international disciplines, such as NASCAR, Formula One, MotoGP, and Major League Soccer, as well as action and adventure sports. But with Red Bull’s popularity soaring higher than ever among fans and players in the major national leagues, the time is right to welcome a new kind of player to the Red Bull world.

Running back Reggie Bush, 23, is one of the most talked-about players in the NFL. The former ESPN Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year had a stellar career at USC, earning All-American honors and the 2005 Heisman Trophy, AP Player of the Year, Walter Camp Award (player of the year), Doak Walker Award (top college football running back), and Pigskin Club of Washington D.C.

Offensive Player of the Year. Since being selected by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 NFL draft, Bush has helped his team to its first NFC Championship Game appearance in the Saints’ 40-year history and tied NFL records for single game punt returns for touchdowns and fastest time to 200th catch. An equally charismatic presence off the gridiron, Bush is a fervent advocate of New Orleans’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina and founded the 619 Fund, a nonprofit that supports a number of local organizations.

In young superstar Reggie Bush, dynamic on the field and off, Red Bull has found the perfect partner (and not just because they share the same initials). Says RB the man about RB the brand: “Like a lot of professional athletes, I’ve been drinking Red Bull for years – it keeps me focused during training and is my favorite when I’m out with friends. Red Bull is fun, young, and energetic, and is also extremely passionate about sports – just like me. So joining the Red Bull team was a no-brainer.”

Bush joins a roster of champions such as Olympic Beach Volleyball gold medalists Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser, Motocross Champion James Stewart, X Games Champion Shaun White, and World Record holder Robbie Maddison to name just a few, and will work hard to add the Vince Lombardi Trophy to the list of accomplishments reached to date by Red Bull athletes around the world.
