Legendary CCE Executive Henry Schimberg Dies

Henry Schimberg, who helped build CCE to such a level of prominence that it handled 75 percent of the entire case load of Coca-Cola in North America, died over the weekend while traveling in Europe.

Schimberg, who was 79, had worked previously as President of Royal Crown Bottling Co. of Chicago, but became a huge player for CCE after Johnston Coca-Cola Bottling Group of Chattanooga, where he was an executive, was purchased by the larger bottler.

Coke CEO Muhtar Kent, whose company recently re-purchased the North American bottling business from CCE, called Schimberg “instrumental in driving CCE’s growth across North America and Europe.”

Schimberg left CCE in 2000. For more information read this profile in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
