Mercy Hangover Prevention Beverage Partners With Big Blue Distributors

NEW YORK, Jan. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Mercy, the new hangover-prevention beverage, is pleased to announce it has secured its on-premise distribution in the New York metropolitan area through Big Blue Distributors, an emerging Brooklyn wholesaler that carries an array of premium brands.

Big Blue is a privately held company founded in 1992 by two brothers, Jason and Gordon Melchner, who oversee all aspects of their Brooklyn operation. Its non-alcoholic portfolio includes Evian, Volvic and Saint Geron, as well as Carpe Diem Infused Teas and Fizzy Lizzy sodas. They service many of New York’s top hotels, restaurants, clubs, gourmet food and grocery stores.

Big Blue’s approach has been to seek out and partner with young, entrepreneurial brands that show promise in a crowded marketplace.

“Mercy is a great product with excellent management and innovative marketing,” said Gordon Melchner. “Additionally, Mercy has established itself as a distinctive functional beverage with unique benefits, which will appeal to our hotels, clubs and bars.”

“There are so many products on the market, but we seek ones that are original, fit our business model and customer base, and have the right corporate team behind them,” noted Jason Melchner.

“We’re excited to partner with Big Blue Distributors for the New York on-premise segment,” said Ryan Giunta, head of sales for Mercy. “Gordon and Jason bring more than 20 years of experience and relationships in the New York beverage market, and we are confident this will translate into strong growth, and improved execution throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn.”

It replenishes key nutrients and jump-starts the body’s natural defenses, helping stave off dreaded hangover symptoms like headache and nausea. Mixed with alcohol or served on its own, Mercy helps neutralize the dangerous alcohol by-product acetaldehyde and unlike many other functional beverages, Mercy is cold-filled and canned, which preserves the drink’s vitamins and nutrients by shielding them from heat and light.

Each 8.4-ounce can, consumed during a night out, will counter the after-effects of up to five alcoholic beverages. Launched in May 2011, Mercy is available in select bars, restaurants, nightclubs and hotels in major cities and via www.drinkmercy.com .
