CORE Nutrition has released two new flavors to its CORE Organics line — Blueberry and Strawberry Banana — along with a pair of new packaging choices for CORE Hydration waters. Both are being showcased at Expo East 2016 in Baltimore this week.

Speaking with BevNET, CORE CMO Eric Berniker said the company was motivated to deliver more options to consumers searching for low-calorie, certified organic beverages.

“What we hear from consumers and retail is that they want something low-calorie and organic, but with great taste,” said Berniker. “We are always looking for what’s next and what’s new, and so we looked at what organic fruits people are buying. Blueberries were number one.”

As with the six existing CORE Organics SKUs, both Blueberry and Strawberry Banana flavors are a flavored water/juice blend with five calories and less than one gram of sugar per serving. All flavors are certified organic, non-GMO and antioxidant-enhanced.

CORE Hydration, an electrolyte-enhanced water promoted as having a “perfect pH” of 7.4 was introduced in 2015 in 30 oz. and 20 oz. PET bottles, in addition to a 24 oz. sport cap PET. The company recently introduced a couple new packaging options: 1.3 L bottle and a 6-pack of 500 mL bottles.

Meanwhile, CORE is preparing a launch into the energy category. BevNet received an early look at the forthcoming CORE energy line at Expo East. Each of the three flavors will contain 35 calories and are packaged in aluminum cans. CORE has not released any further information on the product line as of yet.
