As the first major beverage trade show of the year, the annual Winter Fancy Food Show, presented by the Specialty Food Association, is a chance to get an early glimpse at the new products, innovations, and branding that will begin appearing on retail shelves over the coming months. In this gallery, we showcase a handful of notable new launches and looks for brands as seen at this year’s show, held Jan. 13-15 in San Francisco.

Extending its expertise in plant-based non-dairy milks into a very on-trend ingredient category, Califia shared a pair of new oat milks -- Oat Barista Blend, launching in February, followed by an unsweetened oat milk in April -- at Winter Fancy Food Show 2019.

Making its first appearance at the annual trade show, Austin, Texas-based Good Pickle Juice uses real brine from pickles in its product, which is packaged in a proprietary 4.4 oz. bottle.

Jittery John's

Acquired in November by Cold Brew Lab, coffee brand Jittery John’s revealed a rebrand and reformulation. The company’s products are now all packaged in glass with new labels. The coffee is now brewed using reverse osmosis water and single origin beans.

Winter Fancy Foods Show 2019 served as the debut for Rise, the new brand identity for Slingshot Food’s flagship line of on-the-go yogurt shakes. The new name and packaging is designed to emphasize the product as a breakfast item and create a stronger emotional connection with that use occasion, Slingshot founder Will Hartley told BevNET.

San Francisco-based Hint unveiled its new line of kids-focused zero calorie essence waters in 6.75 oz. boxes, which launched last month.

While retaining much of its existing aesthetic, The Living Apothecary showcased a refined and updated label design that describes the product as “organic probiotic tea” rather than “water kefir” on the front panel.

In addition to a forthcoming two-SKU line of bitter-infused sodas, which was not available for sampling, New York City-based Hella Cocktail Co. shared an updated visual brand identity that extends across its product portfolio.

Adding some brawn to the mix, the new line extension from mental booster shot Brain Juice includes 111 mg of caffeine from green tea, beetroot and red spinach for endurance and turmeric and ginger for faster post-workout recovery.

Along with a reformulated version of its cola, Brooklyn Crafted presented its first ever still products at the Winter Fancy Food Show: Calamansi and Cinnamon drinks.

Coconut water brand Harmless Harvest showcased a revamped version of its probiotic cultured coconut drink, now called Dairy-Free Yogurt. Available in Mango, Blueberry, Strawberry and Unsweetened SKUs, the reformulated line has less sugar than its previous iteration and uses fruit puree rather than powders.

Scrapping “radler” for “boozy tea and botanicals,” the new labels for Owl’s Brew’s canned product will begin rolling out to retailers next month.

Originally scheduled for launch in 2018, kefir maker Lifeway will debut its first probiotic plant-based drink, Plantiful, in March in 24 oz. bottles, 8 oz. bottles and 3.5 oz pouches.

Mixer brand Q Drinks announced a Light line featuring erythritol-sweetened versions of its more popular flavors. Available in Ginger Beer and Tonic Water varieties, the new products contain 35 calories per serving, versus their full flavored 80 calorie counterparts.
