The latest release from fermented drink specialist GT’s Living Foods is Aura, which features 15 grams of bovine collagen in each 10 oz. bottle. With light-bodied fruit flavors, a touch of acidity, and impressively clean-tasting non nutritive sweeteners, Aura offers a distinctive and highly enjoyable take on a collagen beverage.
Things that stand out:
- The combination of fruit juice, white tea, and apple cider vinegar gives the drinks a bright, tangy profile that feels much lighter than a conventional protein beverage. The three flavors also have some familiarity with GT’s kombucha offerings, which translates surprisingly well to this still format.
- Despite using erythritol and stevia, the products have very little noticeable sweetener flavor. The mild to medium sweetness allows the fruit and acidity to remain the focus.
- Delivering 15 grams of collagen protein in a 10-ounce bottle is a compelling functional proposition, especially given the relatively light drinking experience. With only 70 calories and 2 grams of sugar, the nutrition profile should also have broad appeal.

Things to consider:
- The connection to GT’s Living Foods is relatively subtle. While the GT’s logo appears on the front panel, it is secondary to the Aura branding and may not immediately communicate the product’s association with a well-established beverage company.
- The pronounced tang from the apple cider vinegar (3,000 mg per bottle) will likely be an asset for consumers familiar with kombucha and other acidic functional beverages, but it may be less approachable for those expecting a softer or more traditional protein drink experience.
