Talosa, a historic winery from Montepulciano, continues to play a leading role in enhancing Vino Nobile through its strong commitment to the "Pievi del Nobile" project—an initiative that is reshaping the future of the appellation by zoning and rediscovering its historic vineyards.
This commitment has been recognized by international critics, as demonstrated by the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Pieve Le Grazie 2021, which received 95 points from Vinous, earning the attention of critic Eric Guido, who described it as "everything I hoped it would be," emphasizing its elegance, complexity, and the extraordinary expressive capacity of its terroir.
Launched in 2020 by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the "Pievi del Nobile" project marked a paradigm shift for the appellation, introducing a zoning system that highlights the individual historic geographical units of the territory.
This in-depth study identified twelve Pievi, micro-zones particularly suited for Sangiovese—here known as Prugnolo Gentile—which expresses unique nuances influenced by soil composition, altitude, and microclimate.
Talosa embraced this vision since the beginning, investing in Pieve Le Grazie, a historic area with vineyards cultivated for generations, now entirely organic. This exceptional terroir imparts structure, aromatic depth, and balance to its wines—qualities recognized and awarded by critics.
The Pieve Le Grazie 2021, featured at the Anteprima del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2025 and making its official debut at Vinitaly 2025, stands out for its mentholated freshness and balsamic notes, complemented by hints of dried black cherries, dark chocolate, and cloves, leading to a long and spicy finish that beautifully expresses the identity of its originating Pieve.
Approximately 2,500 bottles of the first vintage of Pieve Le Grazie 2021 have been produced.
