Wakefield, RI (May 13, 2025) - Spiribam America, whose mission is to build and elevate quality spirits brands from the Caribbean and beyond, is thrilled to announce a Double Gold and two Gold medals in the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Hardy Legend 1863 Cognac received a Double Gold and 98 points, while Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique from Martinique received a Gold medal and 91 rating and Mezcal Trascendente Espadín Selecto, new in the Spiribam portfolio, also received a Gold medal and a 92 rating.
“The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is the premier global benchmark for excellence in spirits, setting the industry standard for quality and distinction,” says Ben Jones, Spiribam’s Director of North America. “We would have been thrilled to receive a top score for just one product, but three amazing accolades for three of our unique spirits truly supports the direction we are taking with our portfolio.”
The awarded spirits pay tribute to tradition and the local terroir:
Hardy Legend 1863 Cognac
Legend 1863 is a tribute to the world of Cognac and the Hardy family, marrying the elegance of Petite Champagne with the finesse of Borderies. The bottle recently got a makeover, proudly showcasing the colors of the house and its historical emblem, the French Coq. Eaux-de-vie is aged up to 12 years old in Limousin oak barrels with a dark toasting to retain the Hardy style.
Rhum J.M Terroir Volcanique
Terroir Volcanique pays homage to the Martinique distillery’s micro-climatic tropical milieu and breezy volcanic sugarcane fields. Terroir Volcanique is a blend of rums of at least 3 years, aged in new American oak barrels with two unique custom heavy toasts charred in the distillery’s own small cooperage.
Mezcal Trascendente Espadín Selecto 48% ABV
Using only the hearts of the best Espadín plants, Espadín Selecto, an artisanal mezcal focused on sustainability and the rich cultural heritage of Mexico, gives an aroma of orange leaf and tangerine, harmonized by delicate hints of cedar leaf and invigorating lemon tea. This mezcal embodies sophistication—refreshing and impeccably balanced with tantalizing acidity, accompanied by the subtlest nuances of vanilla.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) stands as the most prestigious competition in the world, setting the industry standard for excellence. Recognizing both globally renowned distilleries and rising small-batch producers, SFWSC medal winners earn widespread recognition and respect.
ABOUT SPIRIBAM
Spiribam’s mission to bring the finest Caribbean rum to American shores dates back to 2005 when Rhum Clément was first introduced in the United States. The role of the company quickly evolved into an educational one focused on the advancement of Rhum Agricole from Martinique, and soon Spiribam introduced Rhum J.M. Seeking out rums of different origins, the company added St. Lucia Distillers to the portfolio, beginning with the re-launch of Chairman's Reserve followed by the introduction of Bounty Rum and Admiral Rodney. Soon after, Spiribam acquired Mauritius brands Arcane and Beach House, which are not yet available in North America, as well as the French Guyanese distillery that produces La Belle Cabresse. The first acquisition outside of rum came in 2021 with the arrival of Joseph Cartron Liqueurs from Burgundy. Spiribam furthered its development with the appointment of Hardy Cognac for the United States and has since added Mezcal Trascendente and Gin Lane 1751.
