This specialty roast begins with high-quality, single-origin green coffee beans from Kenya’s Asali Hills, aged for seven months in KOVAL’s signature organic. whiskey barrels. One batch was done in Rye barrels and the other in Bourbon barrels to fully explore the different nuances of flavor imparted to the beans. The result is a complex, aromatic coffee brimming with rich notes of baker’s chocolate, mulberry, dark cherry, and a subtle whisper of KOVAL’s grain-to-glass whiskey in the background.
This barrel-aged coffee is an homage to the creativity and craftsmanship shared by a collective of Chicago-area makers dedicated to pushing flavor forward. By bringing the art of distilling and roasting into conversation, KOVAL and Hansa invite coffee and whiskey lovers alike to savor something truly unique.
