Town Branch Distillery Marks a Rare Chapter in Kentucky Whiskey History

17-Year Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey - Archive Series Volume 3

LEXINGTON, Ky, October 28, 2026— Town Branch Distillery, the 7th member of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail® and the first new distillery built in Lexington since prohibition—releases a 17yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey as Vol. 3 of its Archive Series, marking a rare chapter in Kentucky’s whiskey history for malt whiskey. This 100 proof, non-chilled filtered, single barrel expression was distilled and bottled by Town Branch Distillery and has a suggested retail price of $399.99 for a 750ml bottle.

Town Branch Bottled-in-Bond Archive Series – Volume 3

The Archive Series from Town Branch is a collection of rare American Single Malts, introduced in 2024, showcasing the oldest Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey ever bottled-in-bond. Over the coming years, Town Branch will continue unveiling these exceptional whiskeys to the world. The inaugural installment features a vertical of bottled-in-bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskeys — each age-stated, single-barrel, and bottled under bond — crafted to preserve and celebrate these extraordinary stocks.

This year’s 17-year-old release continues that legacy, marking a rare chapter in Kentucky whiskey history and American Single Malt Whiskey production as the oldest age-stated American Single Malt Whiskey ever released. Town Branch began distilling in 2008 and the casks selected for the Bottled-in-Bond Archive Series are among some of the very first barrels produced on the distillery’s gleaming Forsyth’s dual copper pot stills, preserving a remarkable piece of Town Branch’s early history.

“These are very old barrels we’ve selected for the Archive Series. The hard work lies in preserving the whiskey and knowing when it’s ready to be shared. The easy part is getting to taste all the incredible things still to come from our single malt whiskey program. Consider this a little preview of what the future holds,” notes Dave Bob Gaspar, Head Distiller and Blender at Town Branch Distillery.

Kentucky is rightfully celebrated as the birthplace of Bourbon, a legacy deeply respected by the team at Town Branch Distillery. With this release, however, Town Branch opens a rare new chapter in the Commonwealth’s whiskey history, showcasing the remarkable aging potential of American Single Malt Whiskey and elevating Kentucky’s presence in the category on the international stage.

To further bring this story to life, the distillery is preparing to launch a new, limited visitor experience by the end of 2026: the Archive Series Cask X Tour & Tasting Experience. Guests will enjoy a guided tour of the facility, culminating in a unique single malt whiskey tasting featuring the 7-Year Kentucky Single Malt, a distillery-exclusive Single Barrel Reserve Single Malt, and a sample drawn directly from the elusive Cask X which is over 17 years old and still aging. Cask X brings together all of the earmarked bottled-in-bond Archive Series barrels of the past, present, and future in a singular, evolving blend that offers a rare glimpse into the depth and long-term potential of Town Branch’s single malt whiskey program.

Archive Series Volume 1 – Barrel No. 222 | Filled: July 2, 2009 (Lot 09G02) | Released: October 2024 | 15 Years Old

Town Branch 15yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey was the inaugural release of the Archive Series and set the tone for what was to come — a perfect balance between American Whiskey and Single Malt Whiskey. Aged 15 years in former Kentucky bourbon barrels, this golden amber spirit offered aromas of ripe dried fruit, candied green apple, and warm spice. The palate unfolded with notes of spiced bread, herbal tea, caramel, and honey, finishing with lingering impressions of dried spice, citrus, and salted leather. Rich, robust, and expressive — a fitting beginning to this historic series. Only 108 bottles of this whiskey were released in 2024.

Archive Series Volume 2 – Barrel No. 223 | Filled: July 15, 2009 (Lot 09G15) | Released: October 2025 | 16 Years Old

Town Branch 16yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey is the second installment in the Archive Series which continues the exploration of what American Single Malt Whiskey can be — refined, expressive, and unmistakably from Kentucky. This light gold whiskey opens with aromas of marzipan, cinnamon, oatmeal, dried fruit, and honey. On the palate, layers of baking spice, buttercream, coconut, and black cherry unfold gracefully, leading to a long, elegant finish of sweet oak, orange peel, and vanilla. Richly layered yet impeccably balanced, Volume 2 exemplifies the sophistication and depth of the American Single Malt category. Only 57 bottles of this whiskey were released in 2025.

Archive Series Volume 3 – Barrel No. 227 | Filled: July 15, 2009 (Lot 09G15) | Released: October 2026 | 17 Years Old

Town Branch 17yr Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Single Malt Whiskey is the third installment in the Archive Series which once again sets the standard as the oldest American Single Malt Whiskey ever released— light golden whiskey that, on the nose, presents vibrant aromas of green apple, ripe peach, grapefruit citrus, and butterscotch, leading into a complex palate layered with roasted nuts, crisp green apple, pear, honey, and subtle notes of tobacco, creating a balanced and harmonious finish. Richly layered yet impeccably balanced, it brings together the bold character of American Whiskey with the sophistication of Single Malt, elevated through extended maturation in ex-bourbon barrels. The bottle you are now holding represents Volume 3 of the Archive Series. Only 85 bottles of this whiskey were released in 2026.
