US-based barrel ownership company Barrel Global is excited to announce a partnership with Middle West Spirits to offer Old Elk wheated bourbon new-fill single barrels to its customers. Through this partnership, Barrel Global will offer a limited-edition collection of 50-100 200-liter new-fill single barrels filled with Old Elk’s award winning Wheated Bourbon to its customers for purchase on their marketplace for $2,500, with discounts available for a purchase of two or more.
Barrel Global allows bourbon enthusiasts to purchase a new make spirit at a lower price point, oversee its maturation and bottle design, and then bottle it or resell the barrel. Crafted to be aged into older wheated bourbons, these barrels are set to become collectibles – offering an exemplary spirit from award-winning Old Elk Distillery. The mashbill of each wheated bourbon new-fill single barrel is composed of 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley.
“All of us at Barrel Global are excited to partner with Middle West Spirits to offer our customers the award winning Old Elk mash bills and a chance to purchase one of these exclusive wheated bourbon new-fill single barrels,” says Barrel Global Founder George Koutsakis. “Old Elk has gained great recognition and popularity since its founding and whiskey enthusiasts will have the opportunity to have a barrel of their own.”
Founded in 2008, Middle West Spirits is deeply rooted in Ohio’s grain belt and oversees every step of production, from seed selection to distilling, aging, blending, and bottling. The company offers a portfolio of award-winning brands, including Middle West Bourbon, Rye, Wheat Whiskey, Bourbon Cream, OYO Vodka, Vim & Petal Gin, Lux & Umbra, and now Old Elk Bourbon Whiskey. Following recent expansions, Middle West Spirits has become the largest distillery in Ohio and ranks among the top 10 grain-to-glass spirits producers in the U.S., serving both its own brands and a growing roster of partners across the craft and global spirits industries.

How Barrel Global Works:
Through its online portal, consumers schedule an intake call with a representative from the company’s experts to request a barrel reservation. Like other private barrel programs, consumers may request samples from various barrels to truly personalize their selection. Upon payment, legal certification is issued to the buyer conveying full barrel rights to the purchaser. During the maturation process, barrels are stored in a secure, experiential warehouse in Kentucky at an annual cost of $100 per year, per barrel.
Owning a barrel puts the consumer in complete control of when it’s reached peak maturation. Along the way, owners may schedule visits to the warehouse to check on their barrel – and pull samples to check on its taste profile and color.
At the bottling stage, Barrel Global facilitates the design, packaging, and legally compliant shipping of bottles. For buyers looking to sell bottles commercially, Barrel Global helps with obtaining a COLA (certification/exemption of label/bottle approval) and complying with the three-tier system – both legal requirements of buying and selling spirits in the U.S. market. Additionally, at any point of barrel ownership, the customer may resell the barrel to another interested party.
