DUNDEE, Ore. – October 15, 2025 – On October 10th, Argyle Winery and the Pacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University (PNCA) proudly celebrated the 10th anniversary of their acclaimed Art of Sparkling program with the release of the 2025 Art of Sparkling Collection. The milestone was marked at a special gallery-style event at the Argyle Tasting House in Dundee, Oregon, where guests gathered to view the new label art and toast the decade-long collaboration.
Established a decade ago, Art of Sparkling is a juried internship program created by Argyle in collaboration with PNCA to highlight the value of creativity and storytelling within the winemaking process. Each year, three PNCA student artists are selected to participate in an immersive harvest internship at Argyle, where they explore the connections between viticulture, winemaking, and artistic expression. Their work culminates in the creation of original label artwork featured on Argyle's annual Art of Sparkling Collection.
Reflecting on the milestone, Cathy Martin, Argyle's Community & Partnerships Coordinator, said: "When we started Art of Sparkling ten years ago, we wanted to celebrate the value of creativity in the winemaking process. What has unfolded is far more powerful than we could have imagined. These 30 PNCA artists have each brought their unique vision, and in turn, have given us new ways to see Argyle. Even in challenging years like 2020, when our work together had to happen over Zoom, the artists still found ways to capture the Argyle story with authenticity and beauty. Each label is not just artwork—it is a time capsule of who we were and what we were experiencing in that moment. To me, that is the true magic of this program. No matter what is happening in the world, the collaboration between Argyle and PNCA has always translated into something meaningful, lasting, and inspiring."
Kristin Rogers Brown, Department Chair and Professor of Graphic Design at PNCA, said: "I'm so honored to have seen the depth of impact that Argyle has had on the 30 PNCA artists who participated in the Art of Sparkling program over the past 10 years. Research tells us that artists and designers who have the opportunity to participate in engaging, meaningful work like an internship while they are in college are more likely to remain in creative industries and to achieve higher lifetime earnings. Our alumni have gone on to work across publishing, public art, advertising, education, arts advocacy, and as solo entrepreneurs. Argyle's partnership builds trust, lasting relationships, and a real legacy connected to the agricultural and creative work that's strong in our region. It has set the tone for the professional creative partnerships we aspire to cultivate."
The 2025 Art of Sparkling Collection
The 2025 Art of Sparkling Collection features three bottles of Argyle's acclaimed 2022 Vintage Brut, adorned with original labels by PNCA's Class of 2025:
Jerilyn Gallardo – Rainbow Energy
Jerilyn Gallardo is a visual artist born and raised in Hawaii. Her work centers on cultural identity and native experiences, grounded in multicultural nuances and a commitment to building bridges between communities. Rainbow Energy, inspired by Argyle's vineyards, embodies the necessity of reciprocal care in partnership and community building. Using the rainbow as a symbol, Jerilyn emphasizes the beauty of shared energy and interconnectedness.
Hawk Ferdig – Frye
Hawk Ferdig is a multimedia artist whose work explores the somatic-material relationship central to her trans identity and sexuality. Channeling these complexities through visceral, intuitive use of material, Hawk's practice often contorts the body through raw form. Frye is the culmination of a painting series that began as a material exploration and evolved into a deeply spiritual practice, reflecting the constraints of time, material, and the maker.
Finn Gibson – In Fungi Veritas
Finn Gibson is an animation artist from New York whose work blends the macabre and humorous, seeking to leave audiences either deeply disturbed but slightly amused, or deeply amused and slightly disturbed. In Fungi Veritas highlights clover and mycelial networks as metaphors for the vineyard's nitrogen-fixing ecosystems. An all-powerful warrior god figure represents the uncanny truths that dwell within plants—reminders that grapevines, with their millions of years of evolution and complex genetics, are living, eldritch beings.
