Limited Edition Small-Batch Release Highlights Unpeated, Sherried Style at Full Strength
Islay, Scotland (October 15, 2025) – Bunnahabhain, Islay's most northerly distillery since 1881, has released its annual small-batch 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2025 Edition, offering U.S. whisky lovers the chance to experience the distillery's celebrated unpeated, sherried style in its purest form.
Following a hiatus in 2024, the 2025 release is back by popular demand. Bottled at 56.4% ABV, the 2025 edition draws predominantly from second-fill Oloroso sherry casks, with a precise blend of first-fill and refill casks to add depth without overwhelming sweetness. Hand-selected by Master Blender Julieann Fernandez, these casks deliver a profile that is lighter, more coastal, and more structured than prior 12 Year Old Cask Strength releases. The maturation in north-eastern Islay warehouses exposes the whisky to intense maritime conditions, allowing the distillate to develop subtle salinity, coastal freshness, and delicate spice complexity.
"One of the greatest joys for me as a Master Blender is tasting a whisky in its purest form directly from cask, and it brings me real pleasure to be able to share that experience with our community of whisky lovers," said Fernandez. "Not every whisky stands up to Cask Strength, but Bunnahabhain is absolutely made for it."

For the U.S. market, this release appeals to collectors, cask-strength enthusiasts, and high-end whisky bars seeking a rare Islay malt with a distinctive flavor profile.
Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength 2025 Edition is non-chill filtered with no added color, staying true to the natural character of the whisky. It is now available in the United States online and at select retailers.

About Bunnahabhain
Established in 1881, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly of the Islay distilleries and one of the most remote. Bunnahabhain takes its name from the Scottish Gaelic word for 'mouth of the river' and refers to the Margadale River from whose clear spring waters the whisky is distilled. Focused on sustainability, Bunnahabhain has the first Net Zero distillation on Islay and is known for its unpeated whisky, due to the pure spring water piped to the distillery and the use of unpeated barley. The combination of sherry casks, which deliver complexity, richness, and sweetness, with the coastal influence of the sea makes its whisky very unique and highly complex.
