Glen Rock, NJ, November 13, 2025 – Opici Wines & Spirits, fourth-generation national importer, is thrilled to announce that Luigi Bosca, one of Argentina's most historic and prestigious family-owned wineries, has been named Wine Enthusiast's 2025 New World Winery of the Year. This marks the 26th anniversary of Wine Enthusiast's annual Wine Star Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions to the wine, spirits, and alcohol beverage industry.
Founded in 1901 by Leoncio Arizu in Mendoza and now led by the fourth-generation owner Alberto Arizu Jr., Luigi Bosca has been a pioneer in shaping Argentina's fine-wine identity. The winery was instrumental in establishing Argentina's first Denomination of Origin, Luján de Cuyo DOC, which brought international recognition to the region's distinctive terroir. With vineyards in Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, and the Uco Valley, Luigi Bosca continues to refine the evolution of Malbec while also producing Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon that rank among the world's finest. A member of the Argentine Business Council for Sustainable Development (ODS) and certified by Bodegas de Argentina, the winery champions environmental responsibility and community well-being, reflecting its rich heritage and commitment to the future.
"It is an immense honor to receive this important recognition. This award celebrates the passion and perseverance of our family over 120 years, and our continuous pursuit of expressing Argentina's unique terroirs through world-class wines," said Alberto Arizu Jr., chairman of Luigi Bosca. "This award is not only a recognition of Luigi Bosca, but of Argentina as a great wine-producing country. It represents the spirit of our land, our people, and our commitment to sharing the excellence of Argentine wines with the world."
"We are delighted that Luigi Bosca has received this outstanding accolade," said Don Opici, CEO of Opici Wines & Spirits. "This award reflects their unwavering passion, dedication, and vision spanning four generations. We look forward to Luigi Bosca's continued success and growth in the United States."
In 2026, Luigi Bosca will also celebrate its 125th anniversary, marking over a century of family tradition, winemaking excellence, and international acclaim—now further elevated by this Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Award.
