Inspired by the iconic 1990s SunnyD commercial, the long-discussed “Purple” finally becomes a ready-to-drink vodka seltzer

STAMFORD, CT (April 2, 2026) — For more than three decades, one question has lingered in pop culture: What was that purple drink?

First introduced as “Purple Stuff” in a now-iconic 1990s SunnyD commercial, the mysterious purple drink in the fridge became a generational talking point—quoted, referenced, and endlessly discussed, yet never clearly defined.

Now, SunnyD Vodka Seltzer is bringing Purple off the screen and into the can for fans 21+.

Introducing SunnyD Vodka Seltzer PURPLE, a new limited-time ready-to-drink vodka seltzer inspired by that cultural moment. Instead of over-explaining the past, the brand gives it a modern twist—transforming a nostalgic reference into a bold, flavor-forward hard seltzer designed for today.

For the first time, fans can taste PURPLE for themselves.
