Java Factory Roasters Brews Up the Future of Flavored Coffee with “Sweater Weather,” the Third Season of Flavor52 Initiative
PRESS RELEASE posted by Java Factory
Nine Limited-Edition Coffees Capture the Flavors of Fall and the Holidays as Java Factory Continues Its Ambitious Quest to Introduce 52 New Coffee Flavors in 52 Consecutive Weeks
From Vanilla Spice Latte and Caramel Drizzled Popcorn to Coquito and Gingerbread House, Sweater Weather Brings Seasonal Nostalgia, Unexpected Flavor Combinations and Coffee Innovation Together: One New Flavor Every Monday
SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ (November 2026) – What happens when a coffee company decides that flavored coffee should be an adventure rather than a predictable lineup of seasonal favorites? Java Factory Roasters is answering that question one cup at a time with Sweater Weather, the third season of its Flavor52 initiative.
The nine-week collection, which kicked off October 26, introduces a new limited-edition coffee every Monday, transforming the comforting flavors of autumn, nostalgic confections and beloved holiday traditions into distinctive coffee experiences. Sweater Weather celebrates everything consumers love about the season while pushing the boundaries of what flavored coffee can be.
But Sweater Weather is about much more than holiday-inspired coffee. It is the latest chapter in Flavor52, Java Factory's yearlong initiative to introduce 52 new coffee flavors in 52 consecutive weeks, designed to challenge conventional thinking about flavored coffee and demonstrate just how much creative potential remains in the category.
Organized into six themed seasons, Flavor52 provides Java Factory with an innovative platform for developing new products, experimenting with unexpected flavor combinations and inviting consumers to participate in an ongoing journey of coffee discovery.
For Java Factory, the goal extends far beyond introducing an impressive number of new products. The company is determined to establish itself as one of the most innovative flavored coffee brands in the market by combining imaginative flavor concepts, disciplined product development, playful branding and direct consumer engagement.
"We're not simply launching new flavors. We're challenging what people expect from flavored coffee," said Steven Schrieber, president of Java Factory Roasters. "The unusual flavor combinations, weekly launches, playful branding and customer participation are all part of a much bigger vision. We want to make flavored coffee more exciting, more creative and more engaging, without ever losing sight of the quality of what's in the cup. Flavor52 gives us the freedom to push the boundaries of coffee innovation, explore new possibilities and surprise consumers with something different every single week."
NINE WEEKS. NINE NEW FLAVORS. ENDLESS SEASONAL INSPIRATION.
Each Monday, Sweater Weather unveils another limited-edition coffee inspired by the tastes, aromas and traditions that define fall and the holiday season. From familiar café favorites to nostalgic treats and festive indulgences, the collection offers something new to discover every week.
Vanilla Spice Latte (October 26): Smooth vanilla and warming cinnamon come together in a comforting coffee inspired by a familiar fall café favorite.
Nutty By Nature (November 2): Rich chocolate and hazelnut combine to create a deliciously nutty flavor experience that brings a little indulgence to the everyday coffee ritual.
Orange Cream Chocolates (November 9): Rich chocolate meets bright citrus in a distinctive combination inspired by classic chocolate-covered orange confections.
Warm & Toasty (November 16): Toasted hazelnut and cinnamon create an inviting, warming flavor combination, perfect for embracing colder days.
Caramel Drizzled Popcorn (November 23): Sweet caramel and popcorn-inspired notes bring the nostalgic pleasure of movie-night treats to the morning coffee ritual.
Coquito (November 30): Coconut, cinnamon and rum-inspired notes capture the festive spirit of Puerto Rico's beloved holiday beverage in a coffee designed for seasonal celebration.
Maple Spice Cake (December 7): Maple, cinnamon and nutmeg evoke the comforting aromas and flavors of freshly baked holiday desserts.
Peppermint Stick (December 14): Cool peppermint and creamy vanilla deliver a refreshing yet indulgent combination that captures the unmistakable flavors of the holiday season.
Gingerbread House (December 21): Ginger and vanilla frosting bring the flavors of a beautifully decorated gingerbread house to coffee, closing the Sweater Weather collection on a festive and nostalgic note.
The collection moves from familiar café comforts to nostalgic confections and cherished holiday traditions. While each coffee begins with a recognizable flavor inspiration, Java Factory's objective is not simply to recreate a dessert or beverage in a coffee cup. It is to develop a distinctive coffee experience that captures the essence of that inspiration while delivering a satisfying, well-balanced finished product.
THE CREATIVE FREEDOM TO IMAGINE. THE EXPERTISE TO MAKE IT WORK.
Behind the playful names and unexpected flavor combinations is a serious commitment to coffee innovation.
Developing 52 new coffees in 52 consecutive weeks requires much more than a steady stream of creative ideas. It demands a disciplined, repeatable product-development process capable of transforming imaginative concepts into finished coffees that consistently deliver on taste, aroma and quality.
Java Factory brings together coffee selection, roasting expertise, flavor formulation and sensory evaluation to create its distinctive coffees. Rather than treating coffee as a neutral base for added flavors, the company approaches coffee and flavor as interconnected elements of the same experience, carefully considering how each contributes to the finished cup.
A key part of that process is Java Factory's longstanding product-development collaboration with Flavor & Fragrance Specialties (FFS), a division of Lucta. FFS flavor specialists work alongside the Java Factory team to develop, test and refine concepts across the Flavor52 portfolio, bringing additional flavor expertise and technical capabilities to the creative process.
This collaboration allows Java Factory to explore an unusually broad range of flavor ideas while maintaining a consistent focus on quality and the consumer experience. Creative ambition opens the door to new possibilities; formulation, testing and sensory evaluation determine which concepts can successfully make the leap from inspiration to exceptional coffee.
"Coming up with a flavor idea is the easy part. Making it work in coffee is where the real innovation happens," said Sam Blaney, executive vice president of Java Factory Roasters. "There's a big difference between imagining a flavor that sounds delicious and creating a coffee that actually delivers on that promise. We're exploring unique, unexpected and sometimes unconventional combinations, but every finished product still has to taste great. That's what makes Flavor52 such an exciting challenge. We're not just developing new coffees; we're documenting the entire creative journey in our Flavor Log, sharing the decisions, discoveries and challenges that go into transforming an idea into a coffee we're proud to put our name on."
INSIDE THE FLAVOR LOG: THE STORY BEHIND EVERY CUP
While consumers experience Flavor52 one new coffee at a time, Java Factory is also inviting them behind the scenes through the Flavor Log, its ongoing blog documenting the creative thinking, experimentation and product-development process behind the initiative.
Part director's cut, part captain's log, the Flavor Log offers an insider's perspective on the discoveries, decisions and challenges that shape each new coffee.
From the initial spark of inspiration to the complexities of translating a creative concept into a compelling flavor experience, the Flavor Log reveals the serious work behind the fun flavors.
52 FLAVORS. 52 WEEKS. ONE EXTRAORDINARY COFFEE ADVENTURE.
Launched in June 2026, Flavor52 was created around a simple idea: Coffee discovery should be an ongoing experience, not something limited to a handful of predictable seasonal launches.
Every Monday, Java Factory introduces a new limited-edition coffee, with six themed seasons exploring different sources of flavor inspiration and giving consumers something new to anticipate throughout the year.
The adventure began with Throwbacks, a collection celebrating nostalgic favorites. Ice Cream Truck Season followed, bringing the flavors of beloved frozen treats into coffee through collaborations featuring Klondike®, Good Humor® and Popsicle®.
Now, Sweater Weather turns the spotlight on autumn and the holidays, with the program continuing into three additional seasons: Wild Ones, Just Desserts and The Finale.
Throughout the initiative, Java Factory is inviting consumers to become part of the Flavor52 experience by rating the coffees through its public Flavor52 leaderboard.
These consumer responses provide valuable market feedback, helping the company understand which flavor concepts resonate most strongly with coffee drinkers while complementing its own product-development and quality standards.
The initiative also carries a potential record-setting distinction. Java Factory is pursuing a Guinness World Records title connected to the number of unique coffee flavors launched by a single brand within one year, adding another dimension to the company's mission to push the boundaries of coffee innovation.
The yearlong Flavor52 adventure is scheduled to culminate at the 2027 Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City, where Java Factory plans to unveil its 52nd flavor, bringing the program to a fitting conclusion on one of the specialty food industry's most prominent stages.
For Java Factory, Flavor52 represents both a showcase of creative ambition and a demonstration of the company's approach to product innovation: imagine broadly, develop deliberately, listen to consumers and never stop exploring what's possible.
At the heart of the initiative is a belief that coffee can be comforting without being conventional, familiar without being predictable and exceptional in ways consumers may never have imagined.
With nine new coffees in Sweater Weather, Java Factory is putting that philosophy into practice, transforming the familiar flavors of fall and the holidays into something entirely new.
One Monday. One new flavor. One more reason to rethink what flavored coffee can be.
