Review: Freedom Energy Drink

Posted: Sep 22, 2006 at 12:00 AM (Last Updated: Feb 13, 2007 at 1:52 PM)
Featured in MTV's 2006 reality show entitled "twentyfourseven,” Freedom Energy Drink is a new 12 ounce energy drink. When it comes to design of an energy drink, less is generally more and Freedom's very clean, two color (not including the eyes of the phoenix) design is attractive and well executed. It will certainly stand out among the sea of over-designed products that make up the energy drink category. Inside the can is an effervescent berry-flavored formula that has a moderate amount of carbonation and sweetness. The formula tastes like other drinks that we have previously tried -- something unique and more citrus oriented would fit the brand better (at least for off premise). And, of course, we need to talk about the blue coloring. Whether it glows in the dark or not, we would definitely ditch it -- it's unnatural looking and stains the mouth. Overall, though, it’s a decent-tasting product whose best trait is the simplicity and clean design of its can.
