Uncle Matt’s Launches Line of Probiotic Waters

gI_62632_UMOWatersLast year Florida-based organic juice company Uncle Matt’s Organics tested the waters of the functional beverages segment with the introduction of two orange juice blends infused with Ganeden BC30 probiotics and a Matcha Lemonade. Now the company’s readying to move deeper into those waters, by way of water. At this week’s Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, the company will be sampling a new three-SKU line of high pressure processed (HPP), fruit juice-infused, organic probiotic waters, set to begin rolling into stores May.

Uncle’s Matt’s founder and CEO Matt McLean called the line extension a “natural progression” for the brand in a phone call with BevNET Tuesday, saying the success of the probiotic-infused Orange Turmeric and Orange Coconut juices – which received authorizations at Kroger, Whole Foods and Publix supermarkets in 2015 – encouraged the company to take a deeper dive into the functional beverages category.

McLean also said the probiotic waters will make way for Uncle Matt’s to establish a presence in both the refrigerated dairy case – where its juices can be found – as well as retailers’ grab and go cooler section.

“We’re going to go where the consumer is telling us to go and lower calorie, lower sugar beverages is what’s trending in the grab and go section,” McLean said. “As a beverage company you’ve got to be open to innovation and if that means being in more than one place in the store that’s where we’re going to be.”

The launch of Uncle Matt’s probiotic waters follows that of cold-pressed juice company Suja’s at the end of 2015. McLean pointed at the use of the citrus peel – which has recently been championed by the likes of Dr. Oz and Dr. Mercola for its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties – as a differentiator between the two products.

“These waters are functional in two aspects, the probiotics and the citrus peels,” McLean said. “The peel has always been a functional ingredient I’ve wanted to use and this seemed like the perfect fit to do so.”

Available in orange, lemon and grapefruit flavors, each 16.9 oz. bottle contains 10 calories or less and will retail for a suggested price of $3.49 to $3.99. McLean said the company is currently utilizing the services of an east coast-based tolling facility for high pressure processing.

CLERMONT, FL (PRWEB) MARCH 08, 2016–Uncle Matt’s Organic proudly announces the launch of their new fruit infused organic probiotic waters, available in three refreshing citrus flavors. This functional water beverage line combines proven, patented probiotics with cold-pressed, fresh-squeezed organic citrus juice, as well as real organic citrus peel, which contains antioxidant flavonoids.

Offered in orange, lemon and grapefruit, each refreshing flavor is 10 calories or less per serving with only two grams or less of sugar. Available in a popular 16.9 ounce size, it’s perfect for post-workout recovery, the lunchbox or as a wonderful upgrade for the ubiquitous car cup holder.

Additionally, Uncle Matt’s fruit-infused waters are made with a touch of real organic citrus peel. Citrus peels contain antioxidant flavonoids, like hesperidin. When used in their natural form, the peel’s antioxidant effects are enhanced by the high levels of vitamin C found in citrus fruits.

“Uncle Matt’s has created a healthy water, low calorie and sugar beverage that’s on-trend, light, refreshing and functional,” says Matt McLean, CEO and Founder. “We’re excited to be the first to infuse water with cold-pressed, high pressure -processed fruit juice and the power of citrus peel. Think ‘Refreshing Spa Water’ with a probiotic punch.”

As with other probiotic-enhanced beverages in the Uncle Matt’s product line, the waters feature proven and patented Ganeden BC30 probiotics, with over 1 billion CFUs per bottle, to support a healthy immune and digestive system.

The product will begin shipping nationwide in May, 2015 with a suggested MSRP of $3.49 to $3.99. Stop by booth 2508 this week at Natural Products Expo West for a sampling of these new fruit infused probiotic waters.
