BevNET Review: Izze’s other CSD entry is Sparkling Ginger, which, like Sparkling Birch, isn’t a juice flavored beverage. Instead, this product tastes very much like a mainstream ginger ale, with a pretty mild note of ginger flavor that’s derived from flavorings and ginger oil. Having no ginger juice is somewhat of a disappointment to us, but more importantly, positioning the drink to be just like a mainstream ginger ale is something that makes us wonder who exactly the intended consumer is. There are certainly lots of other premium ginger flavored beverages in glass bottles already – and we don’t see anything overly unique or interesting about this Izze entry. Packaging fits with the rest of the brand, but on the other hand, it fits to the point of blending in. Consumers who are familiar with the brand also might be somewhat surprised to see a line extension that’s not juice based. Either way, we think this product needs work as in its current form, it’s not a memorable product. Reviewed on: 7/17/2009

BevNET Review: Unlike Izze’s original drinks that were flavored and sweetened with fruit juice, this variety is sweeted with sugar and flavored with flavoring. As far as birch beers go, this one is, unfortunately, not one that we’d reach for again. While there is a decent dose of birch flavor to the mix, there isn’t enough. Worse is the product’s finish, which has a sour note to it that’s rather unpleasant compared to other birch flavored beverages. That being said, we’re really not sure what Izze is going for with this product, especially since they’ve given it the color of apple juice. Clear colored and more crisp/minty birch (see Foxon Park) would have made more sense for this brand. And on the appearance front, that apple colored liquid makes it look too similar to some of the other Izze flavors (like Sparkling Apple, of course). Overall, it doesn’t seem like a bad move for Izze to create a sparkling birch flavored drink, but the execution and positioning of the drink don’t make a lot of sense to us.Reviewed on: 7/17/2009

BevNET Review: It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new flavor added to the IZZE lineup, but now they’ve added a seventh variety: Sparkling Lime. Unlike other companies that are focusing their extension on exotic flavors or low-calorie offerings, Sparkling Lime seems like one of those flavors that should have been there from the beginning. Made with 70 percent fruit juice (apple, white grape, lime) the product has a fruity flavor that’s mildly effervescent. It’s a sweet tasting mix, to the tune of 27g of sugar and 130 calories, although the sweetness comes exclusively from the fruit juice. As far as the fruit flavor goes, it’s just okay, with cheaper white grape juice overpowering the other flavors in the drink. It leaves the product without much lime flavor, which is a disappointment. Packaging is good and hasn’t changed much since IZZE was acquired by PepsiCo a few years back. The only exception is the additional subtext that is now cluttering the lower portion of the front panel (“All natural flavored juice…” and “Pure fruit juice from concentrate…” – a bit unnecessary if you ask us), which hurts the previously minimalist look of the product. BevNET Review: IZZE's Sparkling Peach flavor is a new entry to their flagship lineup. Using a 70% juice blend consisting of white grape, apple, peach, and lemon, the product has a fairly fruity flavor to it. However, it doesn't have an overly strong peach flavor, which is due in part to the apple and white grape juices (filler juices, in our book) drowning out the taste of the peach. That being said, this drink falls a bit short of our taste expectations. Packaging is attractive, although we find the white writing a bit difficult to read on top of the light orange liquid that's inside the bottle. BevNET Review: Not Izze’s best effort, but quite competent, this is a sparkling apple juice with a nice balance between sweet and tart and a natural apple taste that is complemented by just the right amount of carbonation. There are a lot of sparkling apple juices out there, but when you factor in Izze's slick looking packaging, this is one of the best. BevNET Review: IZZE has done a really good job with Sparkling Pomegranate. Using a juice blend that includes apple, grape, pomegranate, cranberry, pineapple, and lemon juices, the product has a complex flavor that's slightly tart and sweet. The pomegranate flavor isn't terribly strong, but it is still distinguishable from the other fruit flavors. This product is well done and positioned to take advantage of pomegranate's recent surge in popularity. The clean, attractive packaging will only help move this beverage. BevNET Review: IZZE's Sparkling Blueberry is without a doubt the strongest flavor of the IZZE brand. A mild blueberry aroma starts this product off right. From there it gets better -- the light level of carbonation combines almost perfectly with the tart and tangy flavor of the beverage. The blueberry flavor is noticeable and gives the product a very distinct flavor. Sparkling Blueberry IZZE is a nice break from the citrus or berry "punch" flavors that typically make up this category. It offers a very wholesome "fresh from the farm" flavor that we find very appealing -- and we think IZZE's consumers will, too.Reviewed on: 4/27/2004

BevNET Review: Sparkling Clementine is without a doubt the best flavor of the IZZE brand. For starters, this product has a noticeably stronger fruit juice flavor than the others. The Clementine orange flavor is done quite well and offers a mildly sweet citrus flavor that will appeal to just about any consumer out there. Second, the bright orange color works very well with the clean design of the IZZE logo. If one were to see all of the IZZE flavors side by side, Sparkling Clementine will undoubtedly catch the eye first. This being said, we feel that this is a very wise addition to the IZZE brand. BevNET Review: Grapefruit Izze is definitely the best flavor of the brand. It offers a very clean grapefruit flavor and has a very clean finish. In addition, this is the only flavor where the 100% sparkling juice products do not have an advantage. Overall, we really do like Grapefruit flavored Izze. BevNET Review: Izze Lemon is a lightly flavored and refreshing sparkling beverage made with 70% juice. The juices in this product include pear, grape, apple, and lemon, yet only the lemon and apple flavors are easily detected. The overall flavor profile of this product is light and bitter yet tangy and will definitely quench your thirst. Overall, it's a good product that has very clean package. BevNET Review: Pear flavored Izze is a lightly sweetened sparkling beverage with 70% fruit juice. If you like a beverage that is lightly flavored and has a mild fruit flavor, Pear is a great choice. It's a beautiful combination of pear, lemon, and grape juices that are sure to quench any thirst. The fruit flavors work very well together and the sparkling water makes the product have a nice light body. Overall, a great product that is definitely worth your time.Reviewed on: 3/11/2003

BevNET Review: Izze Blackberry is a flavorful combination of a variety of different fruit flavors. Basically, this is Izze's version of a berry based fruit punch. It has hints of both sweet and tart flavors, including grape, apple, black raspberry, and lemon. With 70% fruit juice, the overall strength of the flavor is just right, which makes for a beverage that is very soothing and refreshing.
