In this week’s new products roundup, Monster Energy unveils its first zero sugar offering, Aplós launches a new non-alcoholic spirit and PepsiCo looks to challenge Sprite with its new lemon-lime soda, Starry.

Monster Energy

Monster expanded its energy drink lineup with the addition of Monster Energy Zero Sugar. Available in the brand’s flagship flavor, each 16 oz. can boasts 160mg of caffeine and has just 10 calories. Austin, Texas-based better-for-you energy drink maker SOMI splashed into the new year with three new flavors: Osaka Redberries Matcha, Fancy Mango Matcha and Yuzu Lemonade Matcha. The zero sugar, matcha-based energy drinks feature ceremonial grade matcha and L-theanine and boast 140mg of caffeine per 12 oz. can. Just in time for Dry January, Partake Brewing announced the return of its limited-edition, non-alcoholic Hazy IPA Varietal. First launched as a small batch offering in 2022, the varietal is a low calorie, low carb NA beer with tasting notes of apricot, mango and berries. OPTIMIST Drinks

Los Angeles-based non-alcoholic spirit maker OPTIMIST Drinks unveiled its newest portfolio addition, The Bitter OPTIMIST: Cali Amaro. The new spirit features tasting notes of orange, pink grapefruit and mandarin which, according to the brand, were inspired by the year-round sunshine and citrus trees of Los Angeles. With Sierra Mist sales on the decline, PepsiCo has repositioned itself to compete against Coca-Cola’s Sprite with the debut of a new lemon-lime soda, Starry. “With one product dominating the category, consumers deserve another option,” said PepsiCo Beverages North America chief marketing officer Greg Lyons in a press release. Arise is crafted with a blend of functional ingredients including suntheanine, guarana and L-choline and features tasting notes of agave, lemon verbena and black sarawak. Adaptogenic beverage brand moment has teamed up with activewear brand Lululemon to launch its newest flavor, Lemon Lemon. The drink is made with Meyer and Spanish lemons, a botanical blend of honeysuckle, lavender, juniper berries and yuzu and adaptogens including ashwagandha and L-theanine.
