The only green juice that’s part of the initial 1915 lineup is this flavor, which the company has called "Romaine." It’s a palate-pleasing blend of apple, romaine, cucumber, spinach, kale and lemon, all of which are organic (the product is both non-GMO and USDA Organic certified) and the product is high pressure processed (HPP) rather than pasteurized. At 25g of sugars per bottle, this product is in the middle of the road when it comes to sweetness. Using romaine, which is a less hearty green than kale or spinach, definitely helps cut the vegetable flavor as does the cucumber. Finally, there’s a splash of lemon at the finish, which does a nice job of rounding it all out. Visually, the company has taken a unique approach to the packaging, which is to add a square-shaped cap to a very square-shaped bottle. To that end, the bottle will -- at least right now while there are no copycats -- be memorable simply for its shape. As for the branding, the 1915 logo features the Bolthouse Farms name directly under it. It’s a minimalist approach that feels in line with both the category and the “good for you” theme of cold-pressed juice. Overall, a solid tasting product whose novel packaging feels like it has enough to stand out in the cooler.
