BevNET Review
Bruce Cost’s Original Spicy GB is the company's most recent offering in an 8.4 oz. can. Compared with its 12 oz. line, this seems like a much more appropriate portion. From a flavor perspective, this is still very much the Bruce Cost Ginger Ale that we know and love. It’s spicy and full of ginger flavor, while sugar has been used to make the product sweet. At 112 calories and 26 grams of sugar, this certainly isn’t a low-calorie product, so the smallish size seems like the right size. In terms of design, this product, like Bruce Cost's glass line, has all of the visual emphasis on the words “Ginger Beer.” The brand name, Bruce Cost, is very much a secondary part of the messaging. Otherwise, the can looks like something that is all about ginger, which certainly helps to build credibility and authenticity for the liquid that’s inside. While we could probably live without all of the copy on the can, it’s hard to really call out anything in particular that should be removed. Overall, a great addition to the Bruce Cost lineup that definitely lives up to the brand equity that the company has created.
