Review: Diet Ginger Beer

Using a blend of sugar, aspartame, ace-k, and sucralose, Bundaberg has taken a unique approach to formulating their low calorie offering. Fortunately, it works quite well, with a 25 calorie (and 5g of sugar) formulation that has a moderate amount of sweetness and only a tiny amount of aftertaste. That’s quite an accomplishment, with many other diet ginger beer/ale that we’ve sampled having a pretty harsh aftertaste. The packaging, which is an 11.5. oz. glass bottle, is good, but definitely a bit of a let down compared to their proprietary 12.7 oz. bottle used for the root beer and ginger beer flavors. The label, which is all about Australia, is a good effort to create a classic looking soda label. If there’s anything we’d say about the label, it’s just nit picking -- the word “diet” should be next to “ginger beer.” Overall, a good product from Bundaberg.
