Charley's Milk: Chocolate

Charley’s Milk’s Chocolate Milk is a fat-free sugar sweetened beverage. Since its a fat-free and shelf-stable product, the thickness of the product comes from added gums. While this does make the product thicker, the texture of the drink lacks the creaminess that would be found in a whole milk product. That said, this product is about average in terms of flavor when considering it against other chocolate milk products, including those made by your local dairy. Packaging is a 14 oz. PET bottle, which has an hourglass shape. While it is the same shape as many protein drinks, the label and “Charley’s” brand (named for the company’s founder) presents an image of being wholesome and good for you. It’s a pretty busy front panel, with way too much text (and a single seemingly random Spanish word, “leche”) hurting the appeal of the drink. Simplifying the look of the product would definitely help. Overall, Charley’s Chocolate Milk has decent flavor and a framework for a good looking label, but some simplification to the label would definitely go a long way.
