Review: Pineapple

This variety of Fresh Juice is made with a single ingredient: pineapple. If you’ve ever eaten a ton of pineapple, you’ve likely experienced the prickly sensation that develops in your mouth (from the bromelain in the pineapple). In the case of this product, you’ll taste this almost instantaneously upon trying it. We’re not sure if that’s the result of the high pressure processing or the concentrated nature of it, but it’s definitely something that’s hard to get past. While the quality and freshness of the juice is hard to knock, this seems like something that would be better suited to being a mixer than a straight juice. But if it’s bottles of juice the company wants to sell, cutting it with something else seems to be a necessity (alternatively, a smaller size would work, too). Visually, we really like the “FRESH JUICE” logo as something that’s going to pull consumers in. However, we really wish that the Ripe brand were more a part of it. As it stands right now, the product definitely looks like a store brand product. And we’re really not sure why the company has used up so much space with the ingredient checklist when there’s only one ingredient. Overall, a nice concept, but we think the execution has proven that it’s not one that’s going to be tremendously successful without bringing some other flavors to the mix.
