Red Bull to Launch Limited Edition Camouflage Cans

In a nod of thanks to U.S. military service members and veterans, Red Bull will launch limited-edition camouflage-colored cans to be distributed beginning on Memorial Day and continue to be offered until Labor Day. The 16 oz. cans, which will come in original, Sugar-Free and Total Zero varieties, will be available for sale through military channels and retailers immediately surrounding bases.

Boston Consulting/IRI Study: TalkingRain Tops Small Companies in 2012

A new study by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Information Resources, Inc, (IRI) lists TalkingRain as the top performer among small companies ($100 million to $1 billion in retail sales) in 2012. The study, which analyzed 400 CPG manufacturers with annual revenues of at least $100 million, compared public and private CPG companies through dollar sales growth, volume sales growth and market share gains.

Lawsuit: Red Bull Doesn’t Give You Wings

For all its heroic marketing, Red Bull provides no more energy than a cup of coffee or a caffeine pill, a recent lawsuit argues. Filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the lawsuit claims that the energy drink company uses deceptive marketing to justify its premium pricing even though its products offer a strong but not superior boost of energy. The lead plaintiff is Benjamin Careathers of the Bronx, N.Y., who has been drinking Red Bull products since 2002.

Red Bull Unveils New TV Spot for NBA Playoffs

Red Bull has unveiled a new TV ad that will be the company’s first broadcast spot during the NBA playoffs. The TV ad is part of the company’s “World of Red Bull” campaign and features L.A. Clippers star Blake Griffin and celebrity skateboarder Travis Pastrana, as well footage from DJ and break dancing competitions and 1-on-1 basketball games played on Alcatraz Island. The ad will air during playoff games on ESPN, ABC, and TNT.
