October – Austin, Texas based Sweet Leaf Tea Company was recently accepted into Sam’s Club. The company was awarded distribution into 125 of the company’s 500 nationwide clubs. “We originally presented to Sam’s with a goal of landing distribution in 4 of their 25 distribution centers,” said Co-Founder and VP of Sales, David Smith. “We were shocked when the purchase order came over for shipment into11 distribution centers covering 15 states. The first order was more than our sales for all of 2003!” Three of the company’s eight flavors will go into the clubs: Original Sweet Tea, Mint & Honey Green Tea, and Peach Tea.

Sweet Leaf Tea will implement a comprehensive marketing plan catered to Sam’s Club, which will include numerous product samplings throughout all clubs. CEO and Founder Clayton Christopher expressed his excitement by saying “Our brand has been experiencing tremendous growth over the past few years as we have begun to roll Sweet Leaf Tea out nationally. We anticipate Sam’s to generate between $1M to $3M for Sweet Leaf Tea in 2006. There is a lot in the pipeline and a lot of excitement within our company. This is what it is all about.”
