Matt Collins Becomes Zola’s New COO

San Francisco, CA – November 2010 – On the heels of a recent announcement of its licensing agreement with Jamba Juice, Zola®, one of the fastest growing makers of functional Brazilian Superfruit beverages, announces that Matt Collins has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the San Francisco based beverage company. Collins was most recently COO at Soma Beverage Company (Metromint/Metroelectro).  He joined Zola effective November 8, 2010.

“I have known Matt professionally and personally for many years,” said Chris Cuvelier, founder and CEO of Zola.  “Matt has a strong sales, marketing and operations background, and his vast experience will be an integral part of taking Zola to the next level through operational strategy and excellence in execution.”

Matt joins Zola at a time when the company is experiencing rapid growth as it positions itself as a leader in Brazilian Superfruits.  Zola recently announced an exclusive licensing agreement with Jamba Juice to develop and launch an innovative new line of Jamba-branded daily Superfruit shots.  Zola sets itself apart from other superfruit juice brands through its dedication to the highest quality, innovation and the best tasting Brazilian Superfruit beverages in a shelf stable format, as evidenced by the “Best Tasting Acai Juice” award it received in 2010.

“I have been a long time passionate consumer of Zola and joined the team to embrace their spirit and passion for quality,” said Collins.  “Consumers love the taste, and Zola is well-positioned to take off in the marketplace.  I believe in the company’s vision and am excited to join the Zola team.”

Collins was a founding member of Soma Beverage and had been with the company since 2004, serving as COO.  Before joining Soma, he held the position of COO at David Rio Coffee and Tea, Bold Outdoor Media and Wyder’s Cider.
