50 Tweets: Street King into Pepsi

We’re still chasing this, but over on twitter, the ever-tweeting rapper/actor/occasional beverage mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has told the world that his Street King energy shot has begun some kind of deal with Pepsi.

Here’s Jackson’s tweet, listed on his Twitter site as going live on Jan. 2: “I did a deal with pepsi to distribute streetking its gonna be every were buy a bottle a feed some one in need. SK”

BevNET is looking into this potential arrangement.

Street King, which was developed by 50 Cent and entrepreneur Chris Clarke of Pure Growth Partners, is an attempt to attract younger consumers – many of whom are presumably fans of 50 Cent — to the growing energy shot category, which is currently dominated by 5 Hour Energy. Big Red owner Gary Smith is also on board as an investor and sales advisor.

As part of the brand message, the company says it will “feed a hungry child” with a donation to the United Nations World Food Program with the sale of every shot.

Pepsi or its affiliates notwithstanding, Street King has recently begun a sales and distribution arrangement with supplement-oriented GNC stores.
