Zola Hires Rosa Compean as Vice President of Marketing

Former Clif Bar & Company Brand Director joins the natural beverage company as demand rises and growth continues

San Francisco (March 6, 2014) – Zola®, maker of top-selling Coconut Waters and Açaí Juices in the United States, today announced the appointment of Rosa Compean, as the Vice President of Marketing, to its executive team. Compean is responsible for marketing and product strategy, consumer marketing programs, public relations and digital media.

The executive’s hire comes in response to Zola’s explosive growth of more than 30 percent year-over- year1, plus significant national distribution gains in grocery and natural food stores. The company most recently launched its Coconut Water Lemonade just in time for Expo West, and after the great success of Coconut Water with Espresso.Zola’s Coconut Water portfolio has been one of the fastest-selling in the category since March 2012.

Compean most recently served as a Brand Director at Clif Bar & Company, a leading maker of organic energy and nutrition foods and drinks. In that role, she defined and led the strategic direction and annual operating plans for the LUNA portfolio of brands. Prior to Clif Bar & Company, Compean was Director of Marketing and Merchandising at Peet’s Coffee & Tea, a San Francisco Bay Area-based specialty coffee roaster and retailer. She has also held marketing leadership positions at Williams- Sonoma, Inc., Jamba Juice Co. and Nestle USA.
