Evolve Kefir and Sap on Tap have picked up new distribution that extend well beyond the territorial reach of parent company Dora’s Naturals, the metro-New York-based natural and organic food and beverage wholesaler. According to company press releases issued Monday, Evolve Kefir and Sap on Tap will collectively enter more than 3,600 new stores beginning in 2016.
Sap on Tap, Dora’s vegan, non-GMO and certified organic maple water brand, has secured placement for its original and ginger lime varieties in 1,000 CVS locations. The CVS stores will not carry Sap on Tap’s Yerba Mate variety, which Dora’s debuted alongside ginger lime at the 2015 Natural Products Expo East trade show.
“We’re very excited to bring the health benefits and great flavor of Sap on Tap maple waters to one of the largest retailers in the country,” said Dora’s CEO Cyrus Schwartz. “This should help put Sap on Tap within reach of millions of consumers nationally who will enjoy maple water for the first time.”
Meanwhile, Evolve Kefir, Dora’s line of probiotic smoothies and Greek yogurts, is expanding its distribution footprint with the addition of 2,600 new stores, including CVS, Walmart, ShopRite and ACME.
Placement of Sap on Tap and Evolve Kefir on CVS shelves follows the retailer’s addition of brands like GT’s Kombucha, Evolution Fresh, Mamma Chia and KeVita earlier this year, and marks a continued evolution of the drug store channel, which has increasingly incorporated beverages from categories that once resided exclusively in natural and specialty grocers.
“CVS is putting more ‘good for you’ products in their stores on their own,” GT’s Kombucha founder GT Dave said at the time. “We’re grateful to be included in that initiative.”
