SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Nov. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — LifeAID® Beverage Company, creator of the popular FitAID® nutritional product, has collaborated with I AM ADAPTIVE™ to commission Xcalibur Sports Chairs ofMadison, Georgia in the creation of a custom wheelchair to be used in Crossfit® training and competition by I Am Adaptive Athlete and FitAID® sponsored adaptive athlete Michael Mills.

FitAID’s Official Charity, I AM ADAPTIVE™, is dedicated to raising awareness worldwide for the burgeoning ‘Adaptive’ movement,” says LifeAID Bev. Co. President Dr. Aaron Hinde. “FitAID is the supplement of choice within the functional fitness community, so when I AM ADAPTIVE and Michael approached us with the idea of sponsoring the first ever wheelchair specially designed for competitive fitness, we jumped at the opportunity.”

Michael Mills has been a competitive athlete since 1999. Paralyzed by a drunk driver at the age of 16, his grit and determination have carried him to the pinnacle of athletic accomplishment. He holds numerous world records and “first ever” accomplishments for an adaptive athlete in events such as wheelchair track and road racing, obstacle course racing, Spartan® Racing, and the GORUCK military type endurance competition. He is an inspiration to the adaptive athletes everywhere. He proudly states, “Now more than ever, adaptive athletes and adaptive military veterans are participating in these types of events because we do not accept ‘NO’ for an answer. Functional fitness represents the latest frontier for me and for the adaptive community.”

The FitAID sponsored wheelchair is fabricated to Mills specifications by Xcalibar Sports Chairs, maker of Mills’ other unique chairs also built for competition. Mills says, “The chair is lighter, stiffer and stronger than any other, so it can take the beating of a WOD. It has various attachments that allow the user to remain in the chair, while still performing any exercise scaled for the adaptive athlete. I’m confident that my new chair will be the first of many you’ll see in gyms and on the circuit.”
