Venus Spirits to Launch Gin Blend No. 2

Venus Spirits Gin Blend No. 2Venus Spirits is set to launch a second style of gin, created with a unique botanical blend and allowed to rest in American oak casks. The fourth spirit launched in only seven months from the Santa Cruz distillery, Venus Spirits Gin Blend No. 02 will join Gin Blend No. 01, El Ladrón Blanco Blue Agave Spirit and Wayward Whiskey Single Malt on shelves in Santa Cruz and the Bay Area.

The second spirit in the Venus Spirits brand will follow the hugely successful Gin Blend No. 01, which has been recognized for both taste and design by the Good Food Awards, Communication Arts and Type Directors Club. Distiller Sean Venus has taken a different approach with Blend No. 02 in both flavor and appearance. The unique botanical blend was specifically chosen to pair with American oak, and comes out of the barrel golden amber in color. You will recognize notes of orange and bay in the nose followed by cinnamon, vanilla, sage, and fennel. The herbal character of this gin is not lost by the oak but rather enhanced by the additional element. Perfect for sipping or mixing into your favorite cocktail, this gin will set the standard for an entirely new category of aged spirit.

Venus Spirits Gin Blend No. 02 will be available for tasting at Whiskies of the World San Jose and San Francisco.

About Sean Venus, Founder & Distiller

Sean attended the University of Oregon during the initial renaissance of craft beer, and began working as an assistant brewer at the age of twenty. He held various positions with other breweries in Eugene and spent six years with Gordon Biersch Brewing in San Jose, CA. For the next eight years he worked for several organic food companies, most recently Mamma Chia, a first of its kind chia based food and beverage company.

In 2012, Sean made the decision to start a craft distillery in Santa Cruz to produce small batch organic gin, whiskey and blue agave spirits. After finding a site, procuring equipment and completing all the necessary paperwork, distilling began in May of 2014. Venus Gin Blend No. 01 hit shelves in July followed by El Ladrón Blanco Blue Agave Spirit, Wayward Whiskey Single Malt, and now Venus Gin Blend No. 02.
