New York, NY (March 18, 2015) – VOSS Water of Norway understands the challenges faced by communities with little or no access to clean water. To address this issue, VOSS created The Voss Foundation, which addresses the availability of clean water resources and hygiene in Sub- Saharan Africa.
VOSS is running a national campaign in-store for the 31 days from World Water Day on March 22nd until Earth Day on April 22nd with the theme, 31 Days to Make a Difference. In addition to in-store activity, an integrated communications effort with social media and public relations will support this campaign.
With 31 Days to Make a Difference, VOSS Water is working with its Foundation to continue to raise awareness of these water scarcity issues as it has done for the past five years. This year, a contest, Building One Well at a Time- www.onewellatatime.com, gives consumers a chance to share their understanding, vision and passion in this underserved region for the chance to win a once in a lifetime, all-expense paid adventure for two to Sub-Saharan Africa and to dedicate the newest Voss Foundation water project in the Kingdom of Swaziland.
Entrants are invited to submit a photo with a brief commentary, choose a photo/fact from a posted assortment and add a brief commentary or create an original video for an opportunity to win a trip where they will meet members of the community and learn about the local culture, rich traditions and history while also attending the ritual naming ceremony for the newest well.
Judges include Jewel, who in addition to her music career spearheads her charitable initiative, Project Clean Water, which aims to bring clean water to those in need around the world. Since 2009, Project Clean Water and Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin United have partnered with Voss Foundation on the “Give A Drop” campaign. In addition, Kara Gerson, executive director of the Voss Foundation, David Hessekiel, president and founder of the Cause Marketing Forum and Saran Kaba Jones, founder & executive director, FACE Africa which funds and supports sustainable clean water, sanitation and hygiene will assist in the judging.
According to CMO Ken Gilbert, “It’s important to understand VOSS Water’s relationship with the Foundation. The founders of VOSS created the Foundation in 2008 with the intent to support the Foundation with funds unrelated to consumer purchases. Our CEO Jack Belsito describes it perfectly by saying our support for the Foundation is unconditional.”
Starting March 22nd through May 22nd, submissions will be accepted at www.onewellatatime.com. With three (3) ways to enter, all entries must clearly express an understanding of the water scarcity issues; particularly how having access to clean water will positively affect daily lives in Sub-Saharan Africa. Winner will be announced by June 15, 2015.
