B Corps are new types of companies that use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and must meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. The designation is a natural fit for Superior Switchel because of the company’s careful sourcing, packaging, and production process. The Superior line of refreshing and ready-to-drink switchel beverages are botanically brewed with Non-GMO, Kosher, Certified Organic, and Certified Vegan ingredients from US farmers.
Since the beginning, the business has had a focus on supporting clean water initiatives through partnerships with Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness and Alliance for the Great Lakes. With the certification for 1% for the Planet, that mission will continue to expand and work with the organization’s network of environmental non-profits to support all U.S. waterways and public lands.
“These new certifications demonstrate in a very tangible way our commitment to the environment and planet-friendly causes, themes that have been at the core of everything we do here, and having these certifications not only hold us accountable to standards but make it official and show our customers what they are supporting by choosing our products,” said Superior Switchel founder Melina Lamer.
Today, there are over 2,200 Certified B Corps around the globe, and Superior Switchel is proud to join them in redefining success in business as a force for good.

About Superior Switchel
Owner and founder Melina Lamer, a former college hockey player, discovered switchel as a means to replenish and rehydrate after a night on the ice. After graduating college, she was persuaded to sell her switchel at a local Minnesota farmers market. When she couldn’t keep up with the demand, she decided to turn her passion for sustainable food and waterway conservation into a business. Now, Superior Switchel can be found in select retailers across the Upper Midwest and nationally through their e-commerce website and other online outlets like Amazon and Garage Grown Gear. In August, Superior Switchel will start expanding the brand out west through Market of Choice in Oregon.Switchel is wonderful and effective as a sports-recovery beverage, great after winter sports like skiing, skating, as well as running, yoga, and other activities to replenish when you’re run down Switchel is full of electrolytes, and fantastic as a remedy for over-indulgence. It’s delightful alone, or as a cocktail or non-alcoholic drink mixer.
