Even as the year winds down, the pace of beverage innovation hasn’t slowed. In this gallery, we highlight some of the notable new product releases from this month, including a potent “Budtender’s Reserve” line from Oh Hi, vinegar maker Marukan’s venture into ready-to-drink products, and limited edition releases from G-FUEL and High Brew.
One of a rising new generation of function-forward RTD coffee brands, Pivot Coldbrew has developed a family of cold brews enhanced with nootropics and reishi mushrooms. The SKUs include Fearless Black, Laid-Back Black, Perfectly Sweet, Harmonious Vanilla and Rejuvenating Ginger. Pivot is currently sold in retailers throughout Los Angeles, and is launching a direct-to-consumer component in January.
Personalized nutrition brand Gainful has added a new product to complement its existing line of protein powders: Gainful Hydration sticks, formulated to deliver an efficacious amount of four key electrolytes to help hydrate better than water alone. Available exclusively to Gainful subscribers, the Hydration sticks come in caffeinated and non-caffeinated versions in two flavors: Strawberry Lemonade and Lemon Lime.
Oh Hi Beverages
Colorado-based Oh Hi Beverages released this month the first two flavors in its “Budtender’s Reserve” line of 100mg THC drinks: Tropical Thunder (with 140mg of caffeine) and High Tea (non-caffeinated).
Named after the signature finishing moves of iconic Mortal Kombat characters Sub-Zero and Scorpion, the new flavors from G-Fuel will have thirsty gamers saying “GET OVER HERE!” G FUEL Scorpion Sting and Ice Shatter will be available in 40-serving tubs starting in January, followed by its introduction in 16 oz. cans in February.
As liquid and powder-based CBD beverage enhancers have become more common in recent years, it figures that THC wouldn’t be too far behind. This month sees the launch of ALT (Advanced Liquid Technology), a sugar-free liquid available in 5mg and 10mg formats which is designed to be added to any drink for easy micro-dosing. The product is sold in select dispensaries in California in 5-packs of 5mg ($28) or 10mg ($38) vials, or in single packs for $6 and $8, respectively.
Having championed antioxidant-rich Montmorency cherry juice as its flagship ingredient, Cherrish is growing its product family with the launch of Cherry Chocolate, which contains no added sugar and 96 cherries in every bottle. The new flavor is available now in 12 oz. bottles on the brand’s website and on Amazon.
The world’s original rice vinegar brand is making the jump into the ready-to-drink space with a two-SKU launch of apple cider vinegar products in 24 oz. bottles. Marukan Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and Organic Apple Cider & Rice Vinegar Drink Blend are available on Amazon now and will begin rolling out to retailers in January.
Rhythm has introduced the third variety in its line of flavored CBD-infused seltzers with different functional benefits: Recover, a Lemon Ginger flavor with added turmeric. Other SKUs include Grapefruit Rosemary (Awake, with 50mg caffeine) and Blackberry Lavender (Dream, with 5mg melatonin). Each flavor contains 15mg of CBD per can.
Alkaline spring water brand Flow has added a new variety to its roster of flavors: Peach + Blueberry, available in 500mL Tetra-Pak cartons. The company is also releasing a new 750mL format that is available exclusively online to U.S. customers.
The latest release from powdered functional product brand Laird is ACTIVATE Probiotic Daily Greens, which can be added to shakes or smoothies, or mixed with water or milk. Notable in its ingredients list is the addition of Shilajit, a substance found in rocks that contains minerals and fulvic acid. The product is available at lairdsuperfood.com for $19.95 for a 4.2 oz bag.
High Brew Coffee
Just in time for the celebratory season, High Brew has released its latest holiday edition: Peppermint Mocha, available in 8 oz. cans.
Fusing two distinct trends within the beverage market -- probiotics and CBD -- Canabix is a new line of naturally flavored wellness waters available in three flavors: Lemon Cucumber, Peach Tea and Dragon Fruit. Each contains 30mg of CBD per 16 oz. glass bottle and is 100% THC-free.
Boxed Water is Better
This month, Boxed Water is adding naturally flavored varieties to complement its flagship pure water line. The new flavors -- Lemon, Blackberry, Cucumber and Grapefruit -- come in the standard 500ml format and are available online and at select retailers.
Happy Viking is a new brand of plant-based protein shakes developed and backed by tennis star Venus Williams, who created the recipe after being diagnosed with Sjögren’s Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder that can cause fatigue and joint pain, swelling and stiffness, among other symptoms. Available in Triple Chocolate and Vanilla Bean flavors, Happy Viking is available now online, through the brand’s website and on Amazon, in 11 oz. single-serve TetraPak cartons and 1-liter multi-serve.
Having launched with its flagship cannabis-infused, non-alcoholic spirit, California-based Artet is expanding its product range with the launch of a new ready-to-drink line of THC-infused aperitifs made with cannabis and botanicals. Available in two flavors -- Rosemary Jane and Tet & Tonic, each with 5mg of THC and CBD per 8 oz. can -- the product is now available at select dispensaries in San Francisco and Los Angeles in individual cans for $6 and in 4-packs for $20.
Pedialyte is growing its product portfolio with four new lines: Pedialyte with Immune Support (pictured), Pedialyte Sport, Pedialyte Organic and Pedialyte Electrolyte Water with Zero Sugar. The former is available in 6-packs in two flavors, Fruit Punch and Mixed Berry. The line is now sold in-stores and online at major retailers, including Walmart, Target and Amazon.
