HOPWTR Double Hopped with Stone IPA
HOPWTR expands its hop-forward lineup with a limited edition collaboration alongside Stone Brewing Company, one of Southern California’s most recognizable craft beer brands. Modeled after Stone IPA, this non-alcoholic sparkling hop water is dry-hopped with Centennial hops and positioned as a crossover between classic IPA flavor and modern functional refreshment. Like the rest of the HOPWTR portfolio, the product contains zero calories, zero carbs, and zero grams of sugar, and is infused with reishi mushrooms and L-theanine.
Things that stand out:
- Pronounced Centennial hop aroma that immediately recalls Stone IPA, delivering a bright, familiar hop character as soon as the can is opened. The flavor is also hop-forward and reminiscent of Stone IPA. Clean and highly drinkable.
- Has a lighter, more refreshing body that differentiates it from beer while still maintaining a credible IPA-inspired experience, reinforcing its role as a true alternative rather than a substitute.
- Matte green can design that subtly nods to Stone IPA’s iconic branding while staying distinctly HOPWTR, resulting in a collaboration that feels balanced and intentional. Yet, they never use the word “beer” on the can.
- Clean, intuitive labeling that is easy to read and shelf-ready, clearly communicating the crossover without relying on beer terminology.
Things to consider:
- The lighter body, while refreshing, may feel thin to consumers specifically seeking the fullness or weight of a traditional IPA.
- Beer style inspiration could cause brief confusion for shoppers unfamiliar with hop water, particularly those expecting carbonation and bitterness closer to craft beer norms.
Rating:
Female-focused energy drink maker Gorgie has waded into the crowded clear protein drink set with two-SKUs – Strawberry Pop and Power Punch – in 12 oz. slim cans. Each drink contains 8 grams of protein, 125 mg of green tea-derived caffeine and no sugar, along with L-theanine, biotin and B vitamins.
Things that stand out:
- The subtle Punch flavor doesn’t kick you in the mouth with sweetness. It is tasty without being overpowering.
- The moderate levels of caffeine and protein reach out to a broad spectrum of consumers who are not looking to max out.
- The soft and approachable package design, formulation and flavors align with Gorgie’s core demographic while still reaching out to health-conscious consumers.
Things to consider:
- The carbonation could be higher. The drink leads with a crisp mouthfeel, but falls off quickly and feels a little flat.
- An added punch of tart would help differentiate the flavor profile from the various soda-positioned clear protein drinks flooding the market.
- Toning down the steviol sweetener would reduce the mouth-coating aftertaste while also further distancing the brand from soda and into better-for-you energy and sparkling drinks.
