CIL US Wines & Spirits Releases Lambay Irish Whiskeys

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — CIL US Wines & Spirits, the American subsidiary of independent and family-owned Camus Wines & Spirits, announced today that it is expanding its US portfolio with the release of Lambay Irish Whiskeys.

Created through a collaboration between Camus, the world’s leading family-owned cognac producer, and the Baring Family’s Revelstoke Trust, the Lambay Irish Whiskey Company combines centuries old Irish Whiskey distilling expertise with equally renowned French Cognac blending and maturing expertise.

“We have been looking at the Irish whiskey category for some time,” said Cyril Camus. “But until recently much of the business was in the hands of few companies. That has changed, and the new Irish brands are exciting consumers. We are delighted to partner with the Baring Family on an Irish Whiskey portfolio that I believe will stand apart, from provenance, taste and manufacturing method.”

Lambay Irish Whiskeys will be released in the US during the first quarter of 2018. The portfolio includes:

  • Lambay Irish Whiskey Small Batch Blend: The finest malted, un-malted barley and grain whiskeys, carefully blended, triple distilled and matured in bourbon barrels with a pleasant Cognac cask finish, exposed to the sea air. A touch of Lambay Island Trinity Well Water, renowned for its volcanic properties, makes the whiskey as unique as the island it calls home.
  • Lambay Irish Whiskey Single Malt: A deliciously smooth unpeated whiskey, triple distilled and finished in selected French Oak Cognac casks that have been exposed to the sea air and maritime winds on Lambay Island.

The setting for the joint venture and the inspiration for the brand name is Lambay Island, a wildlife sanctuary located off the east coast of Ireland, owned by the Baring Family since 1904. Moved by the Island’s pristine surroundings, the Camus and Baring Families have created an exceptional Irish Whiskey that perfectly conveys the nuances of the natural paradise where the whiskeys are created and finished.

“Lambay Island, which has been dear to our family for decades, offers a unique maritime microclimate which is perfect to adding a distinctive finish to this new range of whiskies we are crafting with the Camus family,” said Alexander Baring, 7th Baron of Revelstoke.

“Our families met three years ago, and this project has been in the works since then,” said Camus. “Our family is renowned for our expertise in extracting a sense of place and converting it into a product. We have done that with Borderies and with Ile de Re, and now we have the opportunity to do that here with Lambay.”
