WILD Hires Chief Global Flavorist

Wright’s experience and creativity will expand WILD’s global flavor portfolio

Erlanger, KY (December 1, 2011) – WILD Flavors, Inc. (WILD) is pleased to announce that Marie Wright has accepted the role of Chief Global Flavorist.  Wright will be responsible for global flavor creations for WILD, reporting directly to Dr. Erik Donhowe, Chief Operating Officer of WILD Affiliated Holdings.

After earning a degree in chemistry and food science at King’s College London, Wright began her career as a chemist analyzing the flavors of various sweetening agents before beginning her flavorist training at flavor firm Bush Boake Allen, which would later be acquired by I.F.F.  Ms. Wright joins the WILD team with over 25 years of extensive global, technical marketing and management experience.  Most recently, Wright was Vice President Senior Flavorist for International Fragrances and Flavors (I.F.F) in Dayton, New Jersey.

Ms. Wright has been recognized for her extensive flavor experience in a number of publications, including an article in The Wall Street Journal from April, 2011 titled “The Tastemaker in her Flavor Factory”.   As the article points out, “Most flavorists specialize in sweet, savory or beverage flavors. Ms. Wright does all three, often in a single day. She finds that the challenge provided by the variety works to her advantage.”   Ms. Wright is known for the ability to remember formulas and utilized them or “create new formulations by mentally mapping molecules according to chemical structure and molecular weight.”

Ms. Wright’s attitude about flavor creation is unique as pointed out during the National Association of Flavors & Food-Ingredient Systems (NAFFS) Conference held in October, 2011, “Ms. Wright believes that flavor creation is an artistry rather than science, and perfection in art is truly challenging.”
