Redefining Rum as a Luxurious, Versatile Spirit for the Modern Cocktail Experience

A New Way of Thinking About Rum

Rum is stepping into the spotlight as bartenders and at-home mixologists craft innovative and elevated cocktails that traditionally rely on whiskey, gin, or vodka. Explore these cocktail recipes that replace traditional premium spirits with Angostura® premium rum, revealing rum's untapped potential in classic cocktail culture:

RUM NEGRONI 

This sophisticated twist on the classic Negroni showcases Angostura® 7 Year Old Rum, replacing gin with a rich, full-bodied spirit that adds layers of complexity to this bitter-sweet favorite.

1 1/2 oz ANGOSTURA®  7 Year Old Rum

3/4 oz Campari®

1/2 oz Sweet Vermouth

3 dashes ANGOSTURA®  cocoa bitters

Garnish: Cherry

Glass: Coupe, chilled

Method: Place all ingredients into mixing glass with cubed ice, mix for 10 seconds, strain into vessel.

RUM OLD FASHIONED

Angostura® 1919 Rum takes center stage in this elegant reimagining of the Old Fashioned, offering smooth caramel and vanilla notes that harmonize beautifully with the bitters and simple syrup.

2oz ANGOSTURA 1919®  Rum

1 bar spoon Demerara simple syrup

Splash of Water

2 dashes ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters

1 dash ANGOSTURA®  orange bitters

Garnish with a long orange peel

Glass: Rocks

Method: build in a rocks glass, stir with ice to incorporate ingredients. Add ice.

RUM ESPRESSO MARTINI 

Trade the usual vodka for Angostura® 5 Year Old Rum in this Espresso Martini to enjoy a deeper, more complex flavor, with rich notes of cocoa and coffee that complement the rum’s smooth finish.

1.5 oz ANGOSTURA®  5 Year Old Rum

1 oz Espresso

1.25 oz Coffee Liqueur

6 dashes ANGOSTURA®  cocoa bitters

Garnish: Coffee beans or shaved chocolate

Glass: Martini

Method: Pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled martini glass.

ROAD TO MANHATTAN 

This refined version of a Manhattan swaps whiskey for Angostura® 1824, combining the rum’s rich, dark chocolate and spice notes with the bitterness of Amaro di Angostura® for a luxurious, sophisticated cocktail.

1 oz ANGOSTURA® 1824

1 oz Amaro di Angostura® 

0.5 oz Ginger Liqueur

2 dashes ANGOSTURA®  aromatic bitters

Garnish: Brandied Cherries

Glass: Rocks

Method: Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into glass. Add all ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice, stir and strain over a large ice block into a glass Garnish with brandied cherry.

Craftsmanship and Heritage
