MUG Root Beer And Its Mascot Dog Team Up With College Football Stars To Make Fetch The Unofficial Sport Of Fall

The Brand is Encouraging Fans to “Fetch MUG®. Get a Stick.” By Tapping College Football’s Best Fetchers, Giving Away One Golden Stick Unlocking Free Root Beer Plus 1,000 Play Sticks 

WHAT: MUG® Root Beer and its mascot Dog are calling it like they see it — fall sports are just big games of fetch, and they’d be way better with sticks. On October 19th, National Fetch Day (yes, the beloved canine sport deserves its own day), MUG Root Beer will launch its “Fetch MUG®. Get a Stick” giveaway with help from some of college football's top players known for their catching (aka fetching) skills, including running back EJ Smith, tight end Oscar Delp, and defensive back Julian Humphrey. Together, they will unveil a limited-edition collection of elite fetch gear—high-quality wooden sticks—and showcase how to fetch on the field or in the backyard.

“Fall sports are basically just games of fetch, with more rules. This season, MUG Root Beer is bringing it back to basics so that all of our dawgs can get in on the fun. Just ask our mascot, Dog, who wants to help everyone play more fetch, which starts with one thing: a stick,” said Patrick Gamble, Sr. Brand Marketing Manager, MUG Root Beer.

To help fans get back to the basics of the game, the brand is encouraging America to play the biggest game of fetch… for sticks. The first 1,000 fans to purchase a MUG Root Beer starting on October 19th can get their paws on their very own one-of-a-kind stick from Dog’s collection, preserved in epoxy and delivered alongside a certificate of authenticity and a personalized note from Dog himself.

For those who aren’t quite quick enough, Dog is still willing to share one of his coveted toys. Anyone who purchases a MUG Root Beer between October 19-26 will be entered to win the one and only ‘Golden Stick’ unlocking one year of free MUG Root Beer.

“Da only thing as gud as MUG iz fetch. Everypawdy shuld play fetch mor - so I open up my collectshun of stickz to halp,” said Dog.

Thirsty fans can follow @MugRootBeer on TikTok and Instagram to keep up with the latest antics from Dog.

WHEN: Starting National Fetch Day, Saturday, October 19, through October 26, 2024, or while supplies last.

WHO: Fans who buy any MUG Root Beer product and upload the receipt to fetchmug.com will be entered to win a ‘Golden Stick’ with the first 1,000 fans automatically getting one of Dog’s sticks.
