New launch: SummerFall Sake, Yuzu Bubbles
Product Description: SummerFall’s new sparkling yuzu sake is crafted from California rice, wine cultures, and premium, cold-pressed yuzu juice from Yuzuco with notes of honeysuckle, melon, lemon rind and ginger candy. Similarly to their inaugural launch, Classic Bubbles, Yuzu Bubbles has an acidic finish to complement various foods. With no artificial flavorings or added sugar, Yuzu Bubbles is dry enough to be enjoyed with all meals without being overly sweet, retaining the beloved aroma and flavor of the yuzu. With a crisp, tangy, citrusy finish, Yuzu pairs exceptionally well with ceviche, fish tacos, and panzanella.
Why now? After introducing SummerFall Classic Bubbles in April 2024 to make sake more approachable to US consumers, founder Takuma Inagawa is introducing Yuzu Bubbles as part of his mission to make sake for everyone. As yuzu continues to gain popularity in the US (“yuzu drinks” is up 23% in search), Inagawa saw an opportunity to reach an even broader audience with this fruit-forward iteration using real yuzu juice and no-added sugar for those who enjoy the true taste of yuzu — as opposed to other options on the market using yuzu flavoring and excessive sugar. The slightly sweeter and more citrus-forward launch also comes at the same time as yuzu harvest season, which typically begins in November and extends through January — making Yuzu Bubbles the perfect seasonal drink.
Packaging & design and Design details: The packaging, thoughtfully designed once again by Day Job (the creative agency behind brands like Recess and Fly by Jing) takes the original Californian and vintage aesthetics of the OG can and layers in bright pops of yellow to reflect the addition of real yuzu juice. The can’s matte white base, slightly accented with a metallic blue logo, is slightly updated with an image of the yuzu fruit to reflect the simple ingredient list, while the 4-pack’s embossed detail echos the premium quality of the sake.
About SummerFall: SummerFall is a crisp, refreshing sparkling sake—crafted with locally sourced California rice and enriched by wine fermentation methods. After earning global recognition for his creation of WAKAZE—the #1 sake in France—SummerFall founder Takuma Inagawa has expanded his mission of “sake for everyone” to the US, the most developed sake market outside of Japan. Made with a base of just four ingredients - white koji, wine yeast, Calrose rice, and water- SummerFall prioritizes simplicity and a short ingredient list. Lower ABV than classic sake, sustainably crafted, and free of additives and sulfites, SummerFall allows for conscious, casual, and stress-free sipping. Intentionally served in a can, the bubbly sake can be enjoyed anywhere and everywhere—from backyard barbeques to the beach—and pairs well with everything from a five-course meal to your favorite takeout menu. From years spent learning trade secrets from Japanese master sake brewers, to conquering France’s notoriously critical palate, Inagawa’s mission for SummerFall is to offer the US an innovative and transparent take on an ancestral drink by blending traditional Japanese brewing methods with simple, natural West Coast ingredients.
