Newberg, Ore. (November 25, 2024)- Patricia Green Cellars, a top producer of Oregon Pinot Noirs and Sauvignon Blancs, is proud to announce the release of two new whiskeys to its innovative whiskey portfolio. Patty Green Whiskey Distillers Full Pint Barley and Gazelle Rye are the newest whiskeys made with brandy using smoke-tainted grapes saved from the 2020 wildfires.

The origination of the 100% Oregon-sourced whiskey portfolio began in 2021 when Patricia Green Cellars had to decide what to do with the tens of thousands of gallons of wine tainted by the 2020 wildfires. Partnering with Distiller, Lynsee Sardell, the ruined wine was distilled into delicious and supremely textured brandy. In addition, the distillery side of the winery began to source heritage strains of barley and rye from small local farms and Oregon State University. The distillery then aged the whiskey portfolio in Patricia Green Cellars barrels or barrels made from Oregon oak made by Oregon cooperages.

Throughout this year, the inaugural expressions— made using exclusively Oregon products and labor— were released and bottled under Patty Green Whiskey Distillers. The distillery’s newest two releases made with heritage grain, Full Pint Barley and Gazelle Rye, join this growing portfolio and are a testimony to Oregon’s ability to produce a wide range of delicious products.

“I am pleased to continue this partnership with Patricia Green Cellars,” says Sardell. “To this day, I am in awe of the quality and the skill it takes to create these new expressions. We are taking premium grains and turning them into something incredible.”

Patty Green Whiskey Distillers Full Pint Barley is made with 80% Full Pint Malted Barley Whiskey and 20% Brandy. The new expression, presented at 85 proof (42.5% ABV), will initially be sold exclusively at the Patricia Green Tasting Room in Newberg for $48. With an approachable proof statement, this whiskey is a great foundation for cocktails. This expression is layered with undertones of baking spices and roasted chocolate and unfolds with rich notes of sultanas and dates, while the high notes of zesty orange rind provide a bright, citrusy lift.

The second new release, Patty Green Whiskey Distillers Gazelle Rye, is made with 90% Gazelle Rye and 10% Brandy. Presented at 100 proof (50% ABV), this expression will also be initially sold exclusively at the Patricia Green Tasting Room in Newberg for $95. Enjoyed neat, this expression has aromatics of sandalwood, pecan, grilled peaches, graham, and dark honey. The flavors are assertive but revolve around mead, ginger, unoxidized roasted Oolong tea, waffle cone, and Mandarin orange rind.

To celebrate the unveiling of these two new whiskeys, Patricia Green Cellars is hosting a Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. PST at Patricia Green Cellars (15225 NE North Valley Rd, Newberg, OR). Open to the public, guests can meet owner/distiller Lynsee Sardell and distillery co-owners, Jim Anderson and Matthew Russell while tasting the newest expressions paired with small bites and cocktails. Tasting tickets are $25 and reservations can be made online at bit.ly/3YR346m. The ticket price will be waived for guests who purchase a bottle. The celebration will be held in the distillery's unheated rickhouse and guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for colder temperatures. Space heaters and blankets will be available.
