San Francisco, January 6, 2024 – Twrl Milk Tea, an acclaimed non-dairy food and beverage company inspired by its founders’ Taiwanese and Chinese American heritage, proudly introduces its first-ever Lunar New Year Box to celebrate the Year of the Snake. Lunar New Year is a season of joy, togetherness, and sharing blessings, with tea gifting symbolizing wishes for health, prosperity, and happiness in the year ahead.

Twrl’s box design pays homage to Taiwan, the birthplace of Bubble Tea and celebrates aromatic single-origin teas and the beautiful terrains of Taiwan. With its thoughtful design, this $88 box embraces the meaningful symbolism of red and the number eight, both representing wealth and abundance in Chinese culture.

This special Lunar New Year Box reflects Twrl Milk Tea’s commitment to honoring traditions while introducing innovative offerings to its customers. The curated selection includes:

  • 4-pack of Twrl’s signature canned milk teas: Enjoy our award-winning Ube Milk Tea, Taiwan Style Black, Hojicha Roasted Green Milk Tea, and Jasmine Pu’erh Milk Tea.
  • 2 large pouches of premium loose-leaf teas: Enjoy teas handpacked by our founder Olivia’s parents.
    • Laoshan Black Tea: A bold and biodynamic tea grown at sea level, hand-picked organically for over 60 years. This tea reflects the Taoist traditions of the region, offering a smooth and rich flavor.
    • Sheng Pu’erh Tea: A wild-foraged, single-origin tea hand-picked from centuries-old trees. Sun-dried and fermented in bamboo baskets, this tea is great for digestion and naturally high in antioxidants.
  • 12-pack of Strawberry Popping Boba: Enjoy our single-serve, dye-free bobas whose round shapes signifies unity and harmony. Lucky red bobas symbolize good fortune and joy for the new year.
  • Accessories: Celebrate 2025 with our Chinese Zodiac Horoscope to discover your Auspicious Milk Tea Match, a 3x3 inch Formosan Bear Magnet, and complimentary straws to sip your boba teas.

Twrl Milk Tea supports family-run tea farms in Taiwan, Japan and China, produces boba toppings in Taiwan, and collaborates with Asian diaspora artists to craft its iconic can designs. A standout is their Ube Milk Tea can, inspired by the Year of the Rabbit, featuring artwork by Canadian Asian artist Ruth Chan. Learn more about this creative collaboration here.

The Lunar New Year Box represents a high point in a year of remarkable growth for Twrl. Celebrate the Year of the Snake with Twrl Milk Tea’s Lunar New Year Box—a perfect gift for loved ones or an indulgent treat for yourself and available to order here.

Twrl Milk Teas are now available in select Whole Foods locations, with boba toppings offered nationwide at Sprouts. They are also available online through Amazon, Instacart, Weee!, and the Twrl Milk Tea website.

About Twrl Milk Tea

Twrl Milk Tea offers low-sugar, café-style Boba Milk Tea in convenient canned formats and dye-free Boba Topping packets. Crafted with single-origin teas from organic family farms and climate-friendly pea milk, Twrl’s non-dairy drinks are sustainably sourced and inspired by Asian flavors like Ube, Hojicha, Jasmine Pu-erh, and Taiwan Style Black Milk Tea.

Founded by longtime friends Pauline Ang and Olivia Chen, Twrl draws on their Taiwanese and Chinese heritage to deliver allergen-friendly, nitro-infused beverages. Recognized as a Bevnet Best New Beverage Winner and Food Network Editor’s Pick, Twrl is 100% women- and minority-owned, based in San Francisco. Learn more at Twrl Milk Tea's website.
