MILWAUKEE – March 4, 2025 – After recently eclipsing 9 million free transit rides provided across the nation since 1988, Molson Coors is activating its 2025 Free Rides program by partnering with the Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) and Metro Transit in the Twin Cities for the St. Patrick’s Day holiday.
Revelers in both cities will be able to access fare-free public transportation: from 6 p.m. until the end of service in Milwaukee on Saturday, March 15; and from 6 p.m. until the end of service in the Twin Cities on Monday, March 17.
“We’re incredibly proud to have provided more than 9 million free rides and look forward to the launch of our Free Rides program in 2025,” said Alison Hanrahan, community affairs manager, Molson Coors. “We want residents to feel confident knowing that free rides will be available on Saturday evening in Milwaukee and Monday evening in the Twin Cities, ensuring everyone can get to their destinations with a reliable ride.”
The [SG1] Free Rides program, which began in Milwaukee in 1988, has offered public transit during major holidays and sporting events in a dozen cities[GU2] [SG3] [GU4] [SG5] , underscoring Molson Coors’ commitment to promoting responsible celebrations and serving its hometown communities. While providing free rides in seven cities during New Year’s Eve 2024, Molson Coors eclipsed more than 9 million rides provided in the history of the program.
The 2025 Free Rides program will once again extend nationwide during major holidays and sporting events throughout the year.
In 2024, Molson Coors partnered with local transit in 10 cities to provide fare-free rides on four different occasions. Last year, the program provided more than 30,000 rides in Milwaukee [SG6] [GU7] and the Twin Cities. To help increase access to free rides on St. Patrick’s Day, Metro Transit has also partnered with the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA), to provide transportation in the southern portion of the Twin Cities.
Milwaukee and Twin Cities-area residents can visit the MCTS website or the Metro Transit website to review transit routes and make plans for a free ride this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
